Riverhead and Rocky Point on same Freq?

First time I heard this today. Riverhead FD transmitted on the same frequency as Rocky Point.
Freq was 453.6750.

Has anyone else heard this? I would think they'd be stepping all over each other at some point.

It's one thing that many CT. freq's are on the same as FD's here on LI, (sound beach, miller place and mt. siani I believe). It'd be REALLY annoying to hear both Riverhead and RP together.

Any ideas on this? Thanks.

What was the context of the radio transmissions? Was it the same or different PL/DPL that Rocky Point uses? There is a big parade today in Miller Place/Rocky Point with many fire departments participating and that may have something to do with what you are hearing.

Do you have 047 as the Pl /dcs ? Could one have been dispatching for the other?
