NYSP Radio Reprogramming
I have noticed that NYSP Troop B is reprogramming its radios with different PL tones, similar to what Troop G, E and K has done. See
http://www.nf2g.com
Below is what I have heard so far. I am not sure on Zone 2 Canton because I live so far away, but I am picking up transmissions using a PL tone of 192.8 in the Tupper Lake area.
Most mobiles however are still using 155.595 PL 110.9 but some are starting to use the PLs listed below. Maybee they are planning to only use 155.595 PL 110.9 for communications with Troop B headquarters in Ray Brook.
Zone 1 Plattsburgh Base 154.905 PL 127.3
Zone 1 Plattsburgh Mobile 155.595 PL 127.3
Zone 2 Canton Base 154.905 PL 192.8 or 146.2
Zone 2 Canton Mobile 155.595 PL 192.8 or 146.2
Zone 3 Westport Base 154.905 PL 167.9
Zone 3 Westport Mobile 155.595 PL 167.9
Does anyone know what PL tones Zone 2 is using? Does any one have any more info on this?

Can you hear the NYSP frequencies without the PL tones, and what does the PL tone do. Sorta new to this PL stuff.

The original game plan was to use the following CTCSS (PL) setup statewide (all troops)
Z-1 * 127.3
Z-2 * 146.2
Z-3 * 167.9
Z-4 * 192.8 (where a Zone 4 exists or a need exists)
PL 79.7 may be in use on various details and/or by BCI.
Troopwide - 110.9. This PL is the old standard and appears to be destined for outside agency use.
To answer the question as to being able to hear them without a pl entered , yes.

Yes TECH 2, you can listen without a PL programmed along with the freq. or with a scanner that is not PL programmable. The function of a PL being added is to insure that when the freq. you want to listen to is received by the scanner, it "enables" you to hear only that conversation, instead of a distant agency which may "bleed over" into what you want to monitor...along with other possiblities...stay with this website..you will learn alot!
Troop L (Southern State Pkwy,Sagtikos,Northern State Pkwy's) use 110.9

PL follow-up
The PL set-up is now being used in Troop F Zone 3 (verified). Whether all the "troops" will use it 100 % is anyones guess, but it is now being used.

Troop F, Zone 2
nyscan,
The field units are (or are supposed to be) using 146.2 Hz. The bases are still csq.

F Z 1 has their cars with the PL, but all bases are still CSQ (input at the voter and base output).

Not aware of any DSP repeaters being used in Troop F
PJH,
Can you advise what state police frequency in Troop F's area has a voter being used on it?

Standard Troop F freq's
155.935 input has the voter at the troop. Presently the cars are using PL's however the PL's have not been enabled at the troop. They still hear everyone within an ear shot of a tower.
Zone 1 has TX/RX sites at:
"Narrowsburg" in Tusten
"Eldred" in the town of Highland
"Revonnah Hill" in Liberty
"Wurtsboro" in Mamakating (Rx only)

I stand corrected on the Troop B, Zone 2 cars, SOME are using the pl tone 110.9 and SOME are using the pl tone 146.2. Must be they're taking their time reprogramming them all.

PL usage
The cars are capable of using 110.9 (troopwide) or a specific zone PL. As in the past it will take time for all the troops (Troopers) to come onboard and use the PL correctly. There also could be another reason, the patrol may have been in more than one zone and it is just easier (lazy) to set it on troopwide. OR it may as you said not be up in all zones and vehicles. What I think will be more interesting is IF and when the new SWEN system goes operational. If the guys are having trouble with operating this system ..wait !

As far as I can tell, Troop L is still using 110.9(see post #5 this page) BUT the State PD is coming up with new stuff all the time. I don't know if you saw the News12 Long Island story (if you are on Long Island) aired on Feb17 about the Mobile Plate Hunter 900 that can scan your vehicle's license plate for it's "status" as far as valid, suspended etc. without any action by the trooper--it's all automatic.
There are 2 roof mounted cameras on the Troopers vehicle, that scans your plate as you drive by their car, and beeps to notify the trooper if there is a car that should be investigated....I've been told Suffolk Hwy.PD has it also....
