It's bad enough I spend a few hundred dollars on radio equipment as it is. Well if that works for ya. What ever works. Good Luck. Hope to hear you on the air.

To be honest,if it wasn't for the study mode it has i doubt i would of gotten my license so quick.

I studied for about 3 or 4 months then i went and took my test, only got 2 wrong on the Technician Class Exam. The reason i took so long to study is cause i hate to fail i really hate to fail so just to be on the safe side i studied for the 3 or 4 months.

In my opinion it was worth the money,i plan to resub after the 2 years each subscription gives.Yea i may not need the Technician one anymore and the General one once i pass that but i like to keep my mind fresh.

I know the feeling "I hate to fail". So do I. I studied for about 3 months. I didn't know when to take the test. I went on QRZ and took the test on there. I took 10 exams and ace everyone of them. Then a couple of people on this forum gave me more sites with test on them and took them also. I also ace it. So I said let me book this test. I called a ham buddy and he set everything up for me. I ace it in 4 minutes.

Well what ever works for us. We will have our General in 3 to 4 months or less and yes it's always good to stay in the studies so we don't forget. Good Luck James/KB2SKU. Hope to meet on the air.

I know that feeling also. I started with Ham Radio in my middle school about 21 years ago. I learned the Morse Code also I knew is well and I remember when they had the test in the school, my father never took me to the test because he had to work. From there, 21 years later I got my ham license. I have a 9 year old who is interested also.

Good Luck on your test, You'll pass.

Thumbs up Drill, Drill, Drill

I can't say enough about how helpful AH0A's site is: HA Info
Run through the drills enough, and you will walk into your exam with full confidence. The only thing more fun than passing your exam is slam-dunking your exam.

On a related topic, here's an exam question that I'd like to see added to the pool:

An amateur radio operator is most likely to overload a human brain when

A. calculating resonant frequencies of RLC circuits.

B. understanding velocity factor of transmission lines.

C. determining deviation ratios of a 2-kHz modulating frequency of 3.0.

D. reading and understanding the manual for a new transceiver.

Obviously, the answer is D.

Yes, I study code every other day. It's funny because when I was in middle school I knew the code almost perfect at about 10wpm. Now almost 25 years later, I'm learning it again. Its always good to know.
