Default practice test after a long time of no study

i cant believe it and i dont mean to brag
but i haven't read about anything ham related to the tests in almost 10 years and i am consistently getting 80 to 85% on the technician class practice tests on qrz just from memory

so i might as well study up and finally take the test for real like i always intended

any suggestions on what to read or where on the net would be great

A lot has changed in the last 10 years in terms of the licensing structure so you will need to "study" the new rules if you plan on upgrading past Technician. Waaaaay back in 2000, the FCC stopped issuing new Novice, Tech Plus and Advanced Class licenses. They also dropped the 13 WPM Morse code test for General and 20 WPM for Extra, but that became a moot point because in 2007, they dropped all Morse code tests altogether.

Just about all you need can be found in the net in terms of study material. I guess I am "old school" and used paper & ink books to study. I personally like the ones by Gordon West.

Good luck!

Default Study

I used the A.R.R.L. study guide.

Good luck!
ive noticed how much has changed since i last looked into it
i remember when they got rid of novice and tech plus

only until i looked into it recently ddnt realize they did away with code all together which i must say i think is kind of silly leaving it at 5wpm like they did in the first place(or was it 10 idk) should have been the extent of that in my opinion

eventually i would like to get a general class but going to focus on one thing at a time
one problem im going to have is there is no vec's in my area that are close and there used to be but oh well ill deal with that in a few weeks when im ready to test
thanks for the advice maybe some day we'll get the chance to speak on the bands somewhere
