Per "The Weather Channel" this date at 10:33am NOW in effect with mandatory evacuations for Brick Township, NJ. The timing is mid-morning tomorrow into the Thursday mid-afternoon with heavy rain and wind guest over 50 mph. Here in Westhester County, NY----we are getting ready and everything is being put in place so no life's are lost. This is a serious situation developing and needs to be closely monitored by all in this area. Now a "high wind" watch in effect for the entire viewing area including Westchester County in NY State.
Hope everyone remains safe along the East Coast.

It's just a typical Nor'easter. Take typical precautions, but this isn't a mega storm.

Wirelessly posted (Moto Droid Bionic: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.4; en-us; DROID BIONIC Build/6.7.2-223_DBN_M4-23) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)

The problem with-this- storm is that barrier islands and low areas have lost their natural protection, whether it be dunes or bulkheads or the width of a beach. The latest advisory suggests the low pressure center will be further out to sea than first forecast.

The latest from NWS for coastal Ocean County, NJ.

Wednesday: Rain. Strong winds with highs in the mid 40s. North winds 35 to 45 mph. Gusts up to 55 mph...increasing to 65 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 90 percent.

Wednesday Night: Rain. Strong winds with lows in the upper 30s. North winds 35 to 45 mph...diminishing to 25 to 35 mph after midnight. Gusts up to 60 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.

I've heard nothing about evacuation, if that were the case the OEM would have sent notice by several methods including telephone. Brick is inland west of me and wasn't evacuated for Sandy so the Weather Channel is whacky in addition to making mountains out of mole hills, they're well known for sensationalism. If I were you I'd get my information from a reliable source, not the Whacky Channel.

Those such as myself who were clobbered by Sandy can expect a power outage being the grid around here is held together by spit and a prayer after being ripped to shreds. Lines are down all over and circuited around as a quick fix... here we go again.

Snowing real heavy here in Yonkers, NY but yes TRUS..this will NOT be like Sandy at all..just a heavy wet snow maker for interior NY/Northwestern NJ. News 12 Westchester said it will start to acumulate after sunset. F.Y.I.
Be safe!

Snowing all day in Burlington county and (apparently) Philadelphia. A wet snow, so far it isn't sticking and the scanner has been quiet. 30mi inland, no wind yet.

I said before there is no evacuation and there was none. Big media hype as always and now egg is on their faces, the second big blow never materialized. A little breezy at first but when the snow came dead calm. Lights flickered frequently, probably branches heavy laden with wet glop causing some arcing and sparking but that was all, power stayed on.

Well, I was the one who answered you because Brick is only a few miles west of me and he's not even in New Jersey... RAZZZZ! (;->)

RDALE---Sorry for my delayed response to you as I had my hands full last week and my street blew up 6 times and then ALL power went out! I knew from being a First Responder..that I must now call Yonkers Fire and when I ran outside and saw a 17,000 volt primary line down live and arcing...I had to get a full assignment on Park View Avenune at once and put on my traffic vest and close off this area before I had several fatalities. I had no electric for 2 days..had to empty out my refrigerator(put 4 bags of food in the trunk after Batalion 2 arrived) and stay with my ex-wife and son as they were scared too. On my way over there...I was just amazed how bad the hills were in Northwest Yonkers. I mean cars going down sideways and slaming into parked cars and I knew I had to keep both hands on the stearing wheel so I couldn't even call Yonkers Police direct line in my cell. Once I got on her street..I knew i had numerous cars skidding and her street is a one way in Yonkers that wraps around a circle. I jumped out of my car again..put on my traffic vest(not thinking about myself and safety) and got one man backed up and away from an intersection as his car was rear wheel drive(useless in the snow)and his back tires were bald and if the Yonkers Police had to respond...this guy would of been ticketed plus a Bee-Line Bus was in danger too. This isn't the end of this story yet. I park my car legally and get out and a crowd of 6 people cheer me on including the Bee Line Bus Driver for my actions. I get into my ex-wife's co-op(she is still on the road for 3.5 hours from Hartsdale to Yonkers) and ring the elevator and see it is stuck on the 6th floor and I hear someone 6 flights above the lobby kicking an screaming so I knew I had a jamed occupied elevator and YFD was really maxed out at this juncture. I literally ran up 6 flights of stairs..resolved the situation and then notified Yonkers Fire that this elevator on Dehaven Drive will be out for the night so in case you get any medical calls..YFD/Empress Ambulance should be aware of this and the dispatcher said thanks alot Bob for your continued service to the City Of Yonkers.
Just thought I would put this out there for everyone to see. We all need to be together in situations like this.
Have a nice Sunday everyone! This is and always will be the best group of people I've ever met.

I never saw your posting so sorry I just caught it now. I did hear this on The Weather Channel at the time but it has now been almost 2 months!
Hope you have a Happy and Healthy 2013.
