Default Sheriff Cooke’s position on Second Amendment Rights of the Citizens of Weld County CO

"County Sheriffs of Colorado is committed to public safety and faithful to our oath to uphold and protect the Constitution of the State of Colorado and the United States Constitution including the Second Amendment.
It was in this spirit of commitment to Colorado residents and our Constitution that the County Sheriffs of Colorado voted at the January meeting in Larimer County to oppose suggested state legislation that may limit Second Amendment rights. It is important to note that this legislation simply is being suggested at this moment."

Weld County Sheriff John Cooke said he won’t enforce either gun-control measure waiting to be signed into law by Gov. John Hickenlooper, saying the laws are “unenforceable” and would “give a false sense of security.”

Cooke won

As a life long Coloradan I am sad that the people that we elect are doing this, the majority of this state does not support this. I have registered as a independent voter because I think they all have agenda but I DO BLAME this on a Democratic party that does not care one bit about the Constitution or the people that they are here to protect. I will protect my self or my family in any way I see fit and I don't think any DA would have a problem with that if me or a family member was in grave danger of are life. This law will be over turned In a few years. I was happy to hear the Douglas County Sheriff come out against this, but if it becomes law they would not be doing there sworn duty if they don't enforce it. You can't have it both ways. This will not stand up in the supreme court in my belief. Carry if you wish but be ready to fight in court for your freedom to do so.
VOTE, VOTE, VOTE THEM OUT !!!!!!!

Apparently Gov Hickenlooper has announced that he will sign HB 1224 on Wednesday. We were asked for our reaction, and here is what we said:

We have said all along that based on the legal problems and uncertainties in the bill, as well as general principle, we will have no choice but to leave if the Governor signs this into law. We will start our transition out of the state almost immediately, and we will prioritize moving magazine manufacturing operations first. We expect the first PMAGs to be made outside CO within 30 days of the signing, with the rest to follow in phases. We will likely become a multi-state operation as a result of this move, and not all locations have been selected. We have made some initial contacts and evaluated a list of new potential locations for additional manufacturing and the new company headquarters, and we will begin talks with various state representatives in earnest if the Governor indeed signs this legislation. Although we are agile for a company of our size, it is still a significant footprint, and we will perform this move in a manner that is best for the company and our employees.

It is disappointing to us that money and a social agenda from outside the state have apparently penetrated the American West to control our legislature and Governor, but we feel confident that Colorado residents can still take the state back through recalls, ballot initiatives, and the 2014 election to undo these wrongs against responsible Citizens.
