Question

Can you imagine how anti-climatic it's going to be when they DO find that plane?

I'm beginning to think they're looking in the wrong place.

The only thing we truly know is that the plane never arrived where it was supposed to. A plane that identified itself as MH370 showed up on radar and flew the path folks are investigating, while the real MH370 turned off all the tracking systems and went... who knows where.

What's really odd to me is that if this were a terrorist act, we certainly would have heard something from the party claiming responsibility. If it was a kidnapping for ransom, same thing - we'd have heard from the kidnappers by now. That leaves the possibility that the pilots stole the plane with the intention of selling it to ???. Even so, I think we would have heard something by now from a passenger left stranded in the middle of nowhere. "They dumped us all off at an old abandoned airfield and then refueled and left again!" Something.

So what really happened? No one knows. This story just keeps getting weirder with each passing day that this plane is still missing. I think it's obvious that whatever happened, no one survived. But if that's the case then where's the damn plane?

Wirelessly posted (Moto Droid Bionic: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.3; en-us; SAMSUNG SM-P605V Build/JSS15J) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/1.5 Chrome/28.0.1500.94 Safari/537.36)

AZScanner, the plane is probably 14-15 km under water, and the Bluefin-21 cannot go quite that deep as originally configured. Actually yesterday Perth time they sent down the reconfigured sub to look around the area of the second ping for a second time. Something of interest not yet explained was worth another look. Perhaps the JACC will have a press conference in a few hours; my guess would be 0300-0430 UTC (11 am - 12:30 pm in Perth). The oil slick found 2 days ago was not from a plane. I'd keep an eye on CNN and/or the BBC for live coverage of any press conference.

Inmarsat tracked the engines of the plane beaconing, according to the media reports. While that info could be spoofed, it would be a fair bit of work, for little return.

The raw radar returns we used to track an airliner sized object, which is in the same category as the engine beacon.

CapStar362, that telemetry optional equipment wasn't purchased by the airline. The info was reported early on the search.

A kilometer is 6/10 ths of a mile, or 1000 yards. 6 kilometers would be 3.6 miles or 6,000 yards.

To get nautical miles from statute miles......multiply statute miles x 1.15 and that will get you really close to the nautical distance.

This past Friday night, I watched a news report at my parents residence, about the Captain of the Korean ship that sank. The Captain had committed suicide by hanging himself.

Yesterday ( Saturday evening ) I read on the internet at work where he had "JUST BEEN" Arrested by Korean Police.

Did he come back from the dead, or did the media make a mistake?
