Default Someone in the Charlotte, NC area to contact

I'm looking for someone in the Charlotte, NC area to contact, get a better understanding on how to set up my new PRO433 scanner. I figure if I could spend a short while to clear up some things with someone on the phone maybe, I could take it and run with it. I can load the frequencies etc, I'm just not clear on why and what to do that would work best for my purposes in this area.

Example:
Char Meck
Site Name Freqs
001 South
855.48750 855.73750 855.98750 856.23750 856.48750 856.73750 856.76250 856.98750 857.23750
857.48750 857.73750 857.76250 857.98750a 858.23750a 858.48750c 858.73750a 858.76250 858.98750
859.23750 859.48750 859.73750 859.76250 859.98750 860.23750 860.48750 860.73750 860.76250
860.98750

Heck, where's anything other than South,
002 Site 2 859.53750c Where is this site?? I'm in the North area.

Do I just load all these in each bank? Is any stronger or weaker, some needed, some not?

Can I load 100 ID's in each of the 10 banks I load the frequencies in, or just 100 total?

Heck, I'm reading the manual over and over but still confused on some of the important things I believe.

I want to: Set up to Track My Area only as option, clearest signals and communications
My Area and 1 or 2 other as option
My Area and Weather in case of Emergency
Anything and All as option
I would like to have the clearest signals as possible. I can't deal with scratchy static noises. Don't mind buying other accessories if needed for best communications.

Thanks in advance for any help on this,

EZe

Site 2 is the downtown Gastonia site, you just need the "south" site which is actually all the main sites as they are all identical.

You would only need the primary and backup control channel frequencies, I would program then in this order...

858.4875
857.9875
858.2375
858.7375

858.4875 is the main control channel your scanner will need, but it sometimes switch to another control channel which is why the other three are listed.

I'd have to download the manual on the scanner to see how to hand program it since I am not familiar with it, I think that is built by uniden for RS and it's been years since I have really used a uniden scanner. I'll be back in a little while to see how to best explain it.

It seems you can buy software to program it if you are more apt to try it that way.

http://www.butel.nl/products/arc433/arc433.html

From what I can tell, the 433 does not have an alpha display so that might be a tad bit confusing when listening to such a large system as the char/meck 800mhz system.

So, you think I should buy an PC interface cable and some software that would make it easier?

The only time I tried any ARC software I was less than thrilled, maybe another 433 user will chime in.

Just what are you having trouble with in the programming, it seems fairly straightforward.

Should I enter all theses 800 frequencies in each bank that I want to trunk and then load a Scan List with 10 ID's, for a total of 10 in each bank it searches, =100 total in radio?

Or, same as above but, 10 ID lists with 10 ID's under each list, = 100 in each bank it searches.

Example:
I would like to monitor/scan 'sets' of about 15 or so area Private ID's at different times

Bank Bank Bank Bank Bank
1 2 3 4 5
all 800's all 800's
then 10 Id's then the other 5 Id's
Scan both of the (2) banks to monitor the 15 Id's

OR

Bank Bank Bank Bank Bank
1 2 3 4 5
all 800's all 800's
then 10 lists w/ 10 Id's ea then 10 lists w/ 10 Id's ea
100 Id's 100 Id's
Scan only one bank, monitor 15 Id's

Thanks for your help!

Im new to scanning and I want to be able to listen to the CMPD South Division Dispatch. I have a BCT 8 and I know that I cannot hear CMPD because they are on 800mhz. I need to know if i should get a BCT 15 or a BCD 996t. I dont know if it is necessary to go digital to listen to the Charlotte Police. Do I have to use trunking to hear the dispatch or is it just a normal frequency? Any information that anyone can offer to be would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

You have an answer in your other post on this same subject, the BCT 8 will work on the char/meck trunked system and so will the 15 and 996, they have computer programming as well as an alpha display which will be much better for listening to such a large system.

ezernie

Just re-read the directions for how to program a motorola type II trunked system and enter the following for the frequencies. I can't help with talkgroups because I have no idea how Charlotte is laid out VS what you want to listen to. The only things I listen to when I am there are city/county fire, EMS, and SHP.
