I spend a good bit of time there. Might need to get some tips in the future on Carteret and Craven traffic.

Hello!

~Name: John (no ham callsign but I am considering taking a technician class license course soon)
~Location: Wake county, NC
~Radio: Uniden BCD396XT (stock antenna)
~Monitoring daily: it's all new for me, so I jump around. Mainly Wake county fire/ems/police on Viper 800, businesses on conventional, Cary on 800 system, etc.

I really enjoy finding new talkgroups that aren't listed on this site and trying to figure out what they are, and also trying to record and match up Unit/radio IDs with the person's name/job function!

Good Afternoon!

~Your Name - Pam

~Location - southern Franklin County

~Radios in your shack - a very old Realistic Pro-2011 which I am coming to realize is not going to work with the new systems in place now. I am going to be seeking a new scanner and will need a lot of help because my how things have changed!

~What do you monitor on a daily basis? - Don't monitor anything at this point with a scanner. I do use an app on my cell phone to monitor Wake County, Raleigh and Franklin County.

Default N.C. Roll Call

Lance
N. Asheville area
Pro 2020--Pro 34--Pro 94--Pro 197
Wilcard checks on any trunked systems in the area, and Mil Air
I rigged a discone with just the vhf portion into the short antenna cable for my Pro 2020, it stays on the 138 to 143 band. My Pro 194 stays on the 148 to 150 band. My pro 197 usually does the wildcard searches on trunked systems, and then the 225 to 400 band. I started scanning in the mid seventies when you still went to Radio Shack and picked single crystal frequencies out of a cardboard box...take care
