i live in Pitt County and have an AOR 8200 MKII Euro Version

Well i haven't used it in several months and pulled it out the other day, no city police anymore
Must have moved to trunked system

Well I'm looking again and want something that will will hopefully pick up NC highway patrol and also local trunked systems

Price isn't really a factor cause i would prefer spend a little more to get something that will last for a long time without having to upgrade

What would you suggest???

I'm selling my AOR and have someone coming tomorrow to look at it so will be in the market really soon

The AOR was really hard for me to figure out as it was my first scanner, I'm sure i never used all that it would do but it served my purposes

Thanks for any recommendations you may have

Welcome to RR.com!
Good to have you with us.
Buying a scanner is very much a personal choice.
I always tell people that if you ask 10 people what scanner to
choose 5 will tell you GRE & 5 will tell you Uniden.
It seems like you are willing to spend a little
extra so I would suggest either a Uniden BCD396xt or
the GRE PSR-500. Radio Shack sells the same PSR-500
under the Radio Shack label and the name Pro-106.
Both the Uniden & GRE/Radio Shack scanners will handle
the Statewide Radio System (VIPER) that alot of counties
are using (such as Pitt).
There are a good number of us here in NC that use a
Uniden BCD396xt and have been really happy with it.
Feel free to look over the Wiki and learn the ins & outs of
trunking basics so you can form a better opinion of which
radio might be best for you and which radio has the features
you want.
Hope this helps!

Welcome to RR.com!
Brother Marshall said it quite well, it is all in what you want. Just to make a little note you will need a scanner that receives Digital transmissions, because Pitt County as well as all other agencies in that area are Digital. I will say this about the 396XT, it has wealth of memory and the Multi-Site Trunking is a great plus especially with VIPER.

is there any older models you may suggest
i was hoping not to spend $500 or more but i guess it looks like i don't have alot of scanners to pick from in the sub $500 range
