Cleveland County Project 25
I can no longer recived Shelby PD on their 800 system nor can I recived Cleveland Count Sheriff''s Dept on their VHF. I have progammed the frequencies in my scanner list on the data base along with thier codes and have the listed control channel and am not hearing anything, though I can still get Kings Mountain PD and Cleveland County Fire/EMS. Has Cleveland County Sheriffs Dept and Shelby PD moved to the new project 25 system? And if so is this a digital system or am I doing something wrong?

Has Cleveland County Sheriffs Dept and Shelby PD moved to the new project 25 system? Yes on August 2 according to the database. Analog channels it says tho...

Yes, most agencies in Cleveland County, with the exception of Kings Mtn, have switched over to the Cleveland County TRS which is a P25 system, all digital. You can find the Shelby PD and some of the Sheriff's office talkgroups in the db. I am in the process of submitting the rest of the Sheriff's office TG's tonight.
The old Shelby TRS does not exists any longer.

Side note: All public safety, including county fire, ems, Shelby fire, etc will be moving to the new P25 system. The exception is Kings Mountain who did not want to join the new system for whatever reason.

853.7250 is the control channel frequency you need to be using.
Is that what you have programmed?

Actually the ARC96 software is defaulting to 853.0375 as being the control frequency for some reason, I changed it to 853.7250 and it still isn't picking anything up. Do you know anyone in Shelby using a pro-96?

Don't delete the CCSO's VHF dispatch channel from your scanner just yet. Sheriffs deputies ended up reverting back to the channel last week to communicate with an airborne unit while searching for pot growth in the county.

Their new radios are programmed on the VIPER system.
Wonder what the problem was?

Yes they still have the vhf Maratracs in the cars. I was told they need to keep them to communicate with Rutherford county on mutual aid. Why they were using them for ground to air who knows, but I will try to find out.
On the Pro-96, I think you have to modify the trunking table for rebanded systems.

My knowledge on a digital scanners is limited to the ARC96 programming software and a fee to use the database here to program it. :-)))) If you know anyone in Shelby using a pro-96 to pick up Cleveland County Sheriff's freq's, I'd gladly pay them to program this thing.

I think I am correct, for 9600 baud systems you don't have to change the trunking table. Just enter the correct CC and the 96 should decode the P25 transmissions. I was trying to remember how mine worked. I had a Pro-96 that I sold right after the Cleveland P25 system came online. I think I just put in the CC and everything was fine. If you try to listen to the CC audio, the buzzing sound, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to hear it. I do know that I was getting the Cleveland system with my 96 and I didn't do anything special to it. Give it a try and see if it works that way. I also used Win96 but it should not make a difference.

I came through the other day and listened in all the way through the county. The system sounds realllll good, even with a rubber duck (396XT clamped to the visor).....I just think it's funny that I was hearing public works yacking more than EMS, Fire, & Law.

Correct CC?, is that the control frequency? If so, Win96&ARC96 detects and loads 853.0375 from the DB here, I tried using 853.7250 as suggested above but all I get is a weird buzzing noise.

853.725 is the correct control channel, I'm looking at my 396XT right now.. It changed from 853.0375, the DB needs to be updated. Try programming in that control channel as a MOT system and see if you start receiving traffic.

Need some help,
Don't know as much as I thought I did. I have a BCT8 and the software to program it, but, I can't seem to be able to understand or get it all right to program the new Cleveland Co. system.
Got any suggestions.

John, a BCT8 is not a digital scanner. To track the Cleveland P25 you need a digital capable scanner such as the Uniden 996T, 996XT, 396T, 396XT or the GRE PSR-500 or PSR-600.

Dustin,
I appreciate all your help bro. I sent the other radio back and the guy said I was right the 800 band wasn't working, so he sent another pro-96 and it works fine. The Pro-96 works fine in cleveland county. Thanks for the help guys. Bad scanner false alarm, all's well in Patterson Springs.
