New Control Channel in Charlotte area
While doing a control channel scan yesterday I picked up a new one on 853.3500. It shows a Motorola system ID of "02D" and shows site # 101. I have not picked up any voice traffic on it yet and find no listing for "02D" in the RR database. I do not show a licence for that freq in North or South Caolina. Has anyone else noticed this yet or can some onther monitor it to see what they hear?
Could it be the new Charlotte/Meck system that is rumored to be coming soon?
Not a Viper site with that site #.
The signal is stronger the closer I got to the east side of Charlotte.
That's all I have if anyone else can add anything please do. I will continue to monitor.

It's P25 9600 and thought it might be coming out of western SC.
You've changed the thinking on that
Caught it only once here in Catawaba County.
None ot the Charlotte/Mecklenburg stuff (including Gaston and Union) have the frequency licensed.
Quite elusive at this point, isn't it.

Considering the limited number of licensees in both Carolinas on 868.350, I would think it's Mecklenberg County, testing P25 on one of the old north end frquencies.
I'm reading the site ID as 02D0-0101, with a minimal signal level on the discone at ( roof level right now ) down here in Indian Land (S.C.) at noon. In comparison, I cannot detect the CMPD Huntersville site control channel here at this time ... although that might have something to do with my antenna / coax setup or receiver (996).

Only searched it as a rebanded "YE" license.
Guess the FCC database hasn't updated the Char\Meck transition yet.
Somebody will eventually zero in on this system.

Has anyone heard anything else or seen anything different in the past few weeks? I just plugged in the freq w/ CC only and it's not picking up a thing (usually it's 3-4 bars RSSI) I'm not even hearing the CC in just a standard search. No luck with Alt. CCs either. Anybody?
Edit: Ran the search one more time, CC is now 853.8125. License search w/in 50 miles comes back to a bunch of YX Nextel licenses. Input?

Zippo.
I keep looking for it whenever band conditions open up a bit at night.
Seems to have vanished back into the ether.

Picking it up this morning at work, full five bars on a handheld, near Monroe Rd & Sardis. Could it be on Charlotte's tower on Sam Newell Rd?

Has anyone attempted to monitor with Unitrunker or Trunk88?
I keep hearing rumors that Union County has begun testing on their TRS.

That was going to be my advice. Someone with a tapped radio/Uniden XT run Trunk88 for couple hours and you will have all the info you need to know.

Go figure, I stop searching the system for a few minutes to focus on mil air and I miss a radio check. Can I run T88 with my programming cable and XT....? Not too familiar with the process since it doesn't technically have an audio port - disc. tap. Marshall? Anybody?
Edit: Did you happen to catch the voice channel frequency for the radio check?

Yep.
1) Download Trunk88
2) Extract all files in the Trunk88 Zip into a folder somewhere on your computer.
2) Store the CC into a new system. (This is important: The CC you want to use Trunk88 with MUST be in a stored system).
3) In your 396xt Go to Settings->CC Output-> Set it to Extended.
4) Plug your data cable into your computer and make a note of which com port it is using.
5) Go to the Trunk88 Folder you created earlier.
6) Find the TRUNK88.CTL file and open it with Windows Notepad.
7) Look for the line: "CC Data Serial Port = x" and replace the x with your Com port number that your data cable is at on your computer.
8) Save the modified TRUNK88.CTL file back into the Trunk88 Folder.
9) Double Click the "Trunk88.exe" and the Trunk88 program should start up and you should start to see OSW's (340 G 19C6) on the right hand side. If something is amiss you will only see "Framing" and no OSWs on the right hand side.
I might need to craft a sticky about this at some point.

Sorry, I just have it on sitting in a corner of my desk and by the time I grabbed the radio it was back on the CC.

Jeff probably has it nailed.
868.8125 is also actively licensed to Charlotte.
Rebanded frequencies are being used.
Trunk88 won't do P25 9600. Unitrunker will. Pro96Com also works nicely with XT's.

Pro96Com is a winner:
SYSID = 2D0-101
WACN = BEE00
852.9125 Alt. CC
853.2625 Alt. CC
853.3500 Alt. CC
853.8125 Pri. CC
I'm getting no less than 95% decode from UNC Charlotte. I'll keep decoding through tonight and tomorrow and see how effective it's going and post the results. Thanks for all the help everybody, we've almost got this system figured out.

Good deal Cory.
Eventually the system will ID. The software will record it.
That will give a callsign that can be verified.

They were doing more testing around town today.
Radio checks frm the LEC and on 77.
I have tried Unitrunker, but I get pretty crappy decode from my house.
I have this system loaded twice in the 396XT.
Once as a P25 system and the second time as a rebanded system with the band plan.
Both are loaded with the frequencies listed above.
Interestingly, I only get hits and logged audio from the system programmed as the pure P25...don't know if that provides any further clues.
Also, all hits are showing as TGID 1
