Well that's a touch vague but let me see if I can lend a bit of a hand.

The RR Database for Shelby (that includes the frequencies)

Now this is a P25 system and just because your scanner is a trunk tracker it does not mean that it can track this system.

Also I don't know if Shelby is going to/already on Viper but the above applies as it is a P25 system as well.

By the way, what kind of scanner do you have? Does it have digital trunking capabilities?

I believe I read earlier (though I can't find the post, or thread) that Shelby has already moved to VIPER, and is strictly P25. With that being said, you will need a newer digital capable scanner. You can get these at Radio Shack, or you can get one of the new Unidens such as the 396XT.

And as Drafin has directed you to the database for information he was correct in doing so. Our database for North Carolina is one of the most concise sources of system(s) information on the internet. Please look there when you need information, but as always if you can't find it, or need information about how to program, monitor, or other system questions please feel free to ask. Everyone here is always willing to lend a hand.

Marshall (KE4ZNR) is one of the database admins for NC & does a great job of keeping it updated. I'm sure he'll chime in when he reads this.

And by the way, welcome to RadioReference.com !!!!!!

Seems to be a bit of confusion about Shelby.

Shelby is now on the Cleveland County P25 9600. Cleveland's simulcast setup is standalone and not on VIPER like Wake County.

It put its frequencies from its old analog 800 TRS (now history) into the new system.

The new city radios probably are VIPER operable just like the county ones are.

Welcome to RR.com! We still need more info to be able to help you out.
We need a model number of the Radio Shack Scanner you are trying to use.
As of right now it is like going to a auto repair shop and when they ask you what make and model of car you have you tell them "Chevy".
Radio Shack has carried a ton of different Trunktracking 800Mhz scanners over the years so we need your help in narrowing down the choices.
You should see a "Pro" then a number somewhere on the radio.
Give us that number and we can help you further.

Hate to have to say that you are out of luck with a PRO-2050.

It is not a digital capable model which is needed for Shelby\Cleveland 800.

Everyone has their own preferences, but I would suggest the Uniden 396xt ( Portable ), or the 996xt (Mobile). Of course you can get the Radio Shack Pro 96 / 2096 used for alot cheaper. Just all depends on features & budget considerations on your part.

Cleveland County sheriff has also moved to the new digital 800 system.

You might still hear some traffic on their old VHF from time to time.

County fire, EMS, and rescue are using both 800 and VHF at present.

Have you heard if Shelby is ever gonna be assimilated into the Viper borg?

I thought someone had posted at some point (and I can't find it now) that there was a problem with 700mhz stuff on the 2096. I could be wrong though.

Never have come across anything suggesting such a move.

NCSHP did partner with Cleveland County. VIPER and Cleveland P25 share towers in the county.

No 700 MHz frequencies on the current system.

From what I understand the 700Mhz stuff is supposed to be for Low power on scene direct comms where in building coverage is lacking. It is a mobile repeater setup in command vehicles.
And it is a Wake County only deal for the time being.

How the hell did we end up in Wake County when the original topic was about Shelby?
