(Interesting note to (at least) the Wake County site: it shows a WACN of BEE00. Where have you seen that WACN Before? Char/Meck P25 of course. Hmmm...the plot thickens )

The South Carolina P25 palmento has BEE00 also.

Yeah I have found out it is a default WACN that Moto adds to each and every system they ship.
It can be changed by the system admin.
Still trying to verify some other system info at this time.

Darn tech guys. Ragchewing over which radio works better in Western Wake County on the VIPER P25 system: APX6000 or APX7000. :D

Those guys and their toys.

Found the system's 1st 700Mhz Site.
The Control Channel is 774.2875MHz and It shows up as Site #3 with the SysID of 1FC.
I have only logged the CC so far....like so many VIPER P25 sites radio traffic is few
and far between. Hopefully I can log the rest of the site frequencies tomorrow as
I can't receive this site at home. Still need to ID it's exact location as well but I believe
it is located somewhere in RTP area.
I have updated what little info I have in the database:
Voice Interoperability Plan for Emergency Responders (VIPER) Project 25 Trunking System, Varies, North Carolina - Scanner Frequencies
Feel free to help us make sure the DB listing is accurate!

Once again putting the request out there to please pass along
any verified info anyone comes across. Even if it is only a Pro96Com/Unitrunker log from one of the towers anything that will help us make the database more accurate is appreciated!
Thanks and Happy Monitoring

What is the significance of the 9600 Baud system? I have been out of scanning for a year or so, and have 396xt now and A 996XT arriving tomorrow. I'm in the Raleigh, NC area and I want to make sure I'm up on all I can hear!

Joe,
As of now if you program in this 9600 Baud P25 version of VIPER while in Raleigh you will hear little to no radio traffic. This is because this system is in a "testing phase" where system technicians can adjust system parameters. Really the only users at this time are in Durham at Duke U and Duke Hospital and System Techs.
If you wish to monitor Public Safety you need to listen to the legacy 3600 Baud VIPER system which has (pretty much) statewide coverage. The Wake County part of the 3600 Baud VIPER system operates in Simulcast format. Which means you only need to program the CCs of 868.150 (Primary CC) and 868.5375 (Alternate CC) into your 996XT along with the Wake County talkgroups you wish to monitor and you will hear the radio traffic anywhere in the Wake County area.
We have a great Wake County Monitoring Guide here in the RR.com Wiki:
Wake County (NC) - The RadioReference Wiki
The Monitoring Guide linked above will give you most of the info you need to get up and running.
Happy Monitoring

Anyone have any idea when this will come to Alamance County?

Just Curious.

Going to be awhile. Give it a year or two.
There is still buildout on the 3600bps part to VIPER. The 9600 full P25
is still in a testing phase.

Would these three licences have anything to do with this system?

1. Maybe the RTP Site 3 that is listed in the database but has not been assigned a license.
ULS License - Trunked Public Safety 700 MHz License - WQPL351 - NORTH CAROLINA STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

2. The transmit location on this license is the Youngsville-Franklin County Site on the 3600 System.
ULS License - Trunked Public Safety 700 MHz License - WQPL354 - NORTH CAROLINA STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

3. The transmit location on this license is the Cokesbury-Harnett County Site on the 3600 System.
ULS License - Trunked Public Safety 700 MHz License - WQPL355 - NORTH CAROLINA STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

Just making an educated guess... :)
