Default Cabarrus County Trunking issue?

I'm having a weird problem with my PRO-164 on the Cabarrus Smartnet system... When scanning, half the time it'll pick up the TG, the other half, it'll flicker the TG, never pulling any audio up. To get the audio, I have to manually scan the voice channels... what's going on?

Have you entered the tables for re-banding?

Not entirely familiar with the PRO164, but the Cabarrus system has rebanded a few months ago. You may do it manually, or you may have to add in the rebanded tables via software so it will follow the system properly.

After a lil research, it looks like the 164 will support rebanding, although it looks like you may need software to do it.

Read over: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Pro-164 and see if you can tackle it, when you hit a roadblock, ask here and we'll see if we can help you.

Might want to consider saving your money now, Cabarrus will be full P25 in the coming months, the 4 channel simulcast is already on the air, the transition should begin very soon, if it hasn't started already.

Private Message me.

I have a Pro-164 and I can clone my info into yours and it will work like it should.

I'm planning to get a 106 eventually. However, uh, if my scanner wasn't re-banded already, then it wouldn't be able to pick up ANYTHING on the Cab system right? Cause like I said, I pick up some, not all, sometimes I pick up one unit's traffic on the TGID, then the same ID when dispatch comes back a few seconds later, nothing. The text just flickers between, say, 'CON FD DISP' and 'SCANNING UP' rapidly.

I also got this scanner fresh from the warehouse this year, so I would think it's rebanded already by RS, yes? Had to do a replacement plan and all on it so.

Not necessarily! You may still receive SOME traffic.
That is how It is on our local system!

Jeremy,

You need to reband the scanner. My 164 did the same thing until I updated it. I was also missing a lot of traffic. Also, I've tried to call you back a couple times but haven't been able to get ya. Holler at me later this week sometime !

Oh really? Weird, it's showin' NO calls from you at all, huh. Well, I'll try ya again sometime, but ok. I'll contact ya for sure and see about how to reband the scanner.

Sorry Adams, definitely not. 1: From what I've heard, whenever something slightly starts going wrong, one is bombarded with PMs and emails about it, some of them being QUITE hateful (That's the reason there's no rowan feed anymore). 2: My scanner goes with me. So if I'm at home, it's home. If I'm out? It's out, thus when I'm out, nothing for the feed. So it would be off and on, which would lead back to #1. And 3: cabarrus is going digital semi-soon, about a few month so I heard. That means my PRO-164 would be useless, and I would have to get a PRO-106(Gonna start saving for that with next month's check). And I sure as heck ain't buyin TWO 106's, one for me, one for the feed, so... Plus if you live around here, I'm sure you know that Windstream has...issues. Like going down randomly. Whiiich goes back to 1, so... Yeah. Real bad idea for me to provide a feed, nor is it really feasible/possible.

E-542, Thanks for the quick reply. I understand why you don’t want to. I live in Concord, but run two feeds in MD remotely at my old Fire Department. I definitely know how trying listeners can be. I used to run the Cabarrus feed until they re-banded and a new scanner is not currently in the budget, but someday I will get a digital scanner to keep up with the changing times!

Thanks and BE SAFE!!

Jason

Hey no problem, anytime! Understand totally about the budget deal, haha. Same boat here, gonna have to save for a few months then get the rest of the cash done with the tax return.

Jeremy.
