Thanks!

If you are staying in uptown (Central Division), CMPD is still on the old 800mhz trunked system. Most everything else is now on the new P25 system, including the other CMPD divisions. CFD dispatch is multicasting Alarm on the old system too (I'm assuming your question was directed at monitoring).
Now, onto the best bars in uptown.......

Old System Quiet
Is it just me or is the old Charlotte analog system off the air now? I was not receiving a control channel or any traffic on it all afternoon. It seems to have gone.

Definitely just you. Been listening to winter storm chaos all day from CFD, Medic, etc all day on my old BC895XLT.

I repurposed an old R/S 2067 to scan the public works talkgroups that are still on the old system. Extremely busy all day today.

Bill,
Make sure you've got all control channels programmed in, they've been alternating a lot lately instead of staying on the typical 858.4875.
857.9875
858.2375
858.4875
858.7375

Thanks Chris, you are the man. I had 855.7575 typed in instead of 858.7375.

Not sure how long they've had it up, but CMPD is hosting their live CAD events online again. This is strictly for wrecks though.
http://maps.cmpd.org/trafficaccidents/
They offer mobile app that flags accidents based on your GPS too that's already proving to be effective for myself in the past few days...just search CMPD and you'll find it.

Very nice. Now if they would only bring back the calls for service log. That was great.

Question... I just knocked the dust off of my BR330T, updated firmware, rebanded and reprogrammed and seem to still be receiving a good bit of traffic. I thought Charlotte was moving (had moved) to P25. What am I missing on analog and how much longer before my BR330T need to be replaced with a 396 ?

There is still a lot of activity on the old analog system. It all depends on what you want to listen to. CMPD's central division and north division are still on the old system, though it's simulcast on the P25 system. All other CMPD divisions are only heard on the new system now.
The database here on RR has an accurate layout of what is on each system, take a look there for further information.

I think North and University City are also still on along with some off the surrounding cities. Fire and Medic are also still on.

Alright I need an opinion(s) on monitoring Charlotte from those that monitor it on a daily basis.......
I was down the other day and used my 396XT to monitor the P25 system, which I had no issues at all with multipath distortion or anything of the sort.
I know the old analog system is still up and running and there are still patches in places for CMPD, CFD, Medic, and the list goes on, as well as agencies that still use the analog system exclusively. I'm in the middle of working on a new layout for my 396 and I'm up in the air on whether or not to add the old system in as part of the programming. I don't have it in there as it sits now and if it's going to be going by the wayside sooner rather than later I don't know that I really want to take the time to add it in. I'm aware that Mecklenburg SO is still on there but I really have no interest in listening to them.
So to the folks down that way is there really any benefit to having it still programmed? Basically is worth the time to program it and the TG's in & how soon is it expected before everyone else moves over? This may have been answered before but I've looked through this thread and didn't really see an answer to what I was looking for, so please accept my apologies it has been answered.

I've done a short write-up for the wiki on the SmartX controller and how it works, along with what agencies are operating on which system.
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index...urg_County_(NC)
Daniel,
City Fire/Police & County Fire/EMS have been moved over for some time, make sure they're P25 only. Small out-lying towns are mixed currently, a few radios for each agency have been programmed up and seem to be operating as a test case, besides that, a large majority of users are still on analog. You will hear traffic from the main dispatch channels for the smaller towns, but you will more than likely miss any side traffic on conference or tactical channels. The wiki sums it up pretty well.

Hey Chris,
I appreciate the response. I'll go ahead and add it in to the map I'm working on for the new program. BTW, I'm gonna drop you an email with the updated version of the map I sent you the other day. 10-12 for that.

So I spend some time at the BOA building and have never known what the building security guys were using down there. I could tell yesterday it was digital and from the looks of the radios probably TRBO. Anybody have any more info on them?

If it's TRBO I'd just about be willing to bet its on Two Way Radio of Carolina's TRBO system. The transmitters for that system are in one of the buildings uptown. I'm not at liberty to say which though.

I was monitoring CMPD North Tryon dispatch tonight when at about 9:12pm when it went encrypted for a few minutes. I could hear University and Hickory Grove normally (the other two I was tracking at the time). Loosing track of the conversation, I rebooted my PSR-800 and it appeared to be normal by then. Does dispatch ever encrypt or was it just a blip on my PSR-800 to make it think it was encrypted?
