Just finally got around to posting this... while I was down in Charlotte for Memorial Day Weekend, I ran Pro96Com on the Charlotte system... it ran across a few TGIDs that hadn't yet been identified (I had it download the system info)... some of these looked to have regular traffic on them, but I didn't get a chance to go back and try to identify any of them myself (not that I'd be easily able to, since I don't know as much about the area). So if anyone has some time to do some listening, here are a few TG's to look for...

Default Charlotte Radio

Hey everyone, forgive me if this is an ignorant question

I know most of you use scanners for the area,

but I have the opportunity to buy a motorola digital radio from a friend and was wondering if I could also program it just to receive the talk groups listed in the database or if there is some sort of encryption a scanner can get around that my radio would not.

Thanks

207(CF)= most likely buses
273(111)=most likely CMC Helicopter dispatch
445(1BD)=JCSU
577(241)=unknown
735(2DF)=most likely light rail ch 1
1201(4B1)=Sheriff Jail north main channel
2149(865)=CATS security

I listed some as most likely as that is VERY likely to be what it is. If you look at the old system and the new P25 system many TGIDs are the same hex value. Through this pattern you can usually figure out what the TGID will be for the new system unless it is a new TG to the system.

Look at the first 5 events talkgroups:

Old ASTRO system:
656 29 MEC EVT1 EOC Mecklenburg Event 1 - EOC*
688 02b MEC EVT2 FIR Mecklenburg Event 2 - Fire*
720 02d MEC EVT3 EMS Mecklenburg Event 3 - EMS*
752 02f MEC EVT4 POL Mecklenburg Event 4 - Police*
784 31 MEC EVT5 PW1 Mecklenburg Event 5 - Public Works 1*
New P25 system:
41 29 EVT1 EOC Mecklenburg Event 1 - EOC*
43 02b EVT2 FIRE Mecklenburg Event 2 - Fire*
45 02d EVT3 EMS Mecklenburg Event 3 - EMS*
47 02f EVT4 POL Mecklenburg Event 4 - Police*
49 31 EVT5 PW1 Mecklenburg Event 5 - Public Works 1*

The quickest way to start figuring out a new TGID is to come pare it to the old system if you a full list of the old TGIDs still. Many have been removed from the old system in the database.

In regard to patching it appears there is much less consistent talkgroup patching going on for CMPD. There are some the are pretty regular but not always anymore. Divisions seem to be patching to Events 4 at times as well. Also in case it hasn't been mentioned Freedom division consists of divisions 27 ad 28. There is no patch but division 28 units work off Freedom and are the airport division.

Events 4 is the first channel in all of the CMPD zones and serves as a common channel. When large events happen it's easier to patch events 4 for units coming from outside of the division rather than have them switch zones while running emergency traffic.

Default PSR800 On Charlotte P25

Is anyone using a PSR800 on this system, or familiar enough with the PSR800 than can explain something?

I have a scan list with just the South division (545) dispatch talkgroup. I like the fact that the PSR800 automatically detects when South & Providence are patched, so I can hear South even when patched on the Providence side.

What I don't understand is why Freedom division (533) keeps coming across. The display shows South, and patched, but it's Freedom dispatch talkgroup. I've run Unitrunker and Freedom is not patched with South or Providence.

Any thoughts?

Has anyone successfully put a XTS5000 on this system utilizing the hidden talkgroup method? I have tried like hell to do it but for some reason this system is giving me issues. I have successfully done many other systems but not this one. I have this system programmed another why but with the press of a button I run the chance of affiliating. I want to use the hidden talkgroup method which ties it to a conventional channel as you know.
If someone has successfully done this this system can you please PM me?

That works great on most systems but not on this one. Char/Meck must have something a little different on their system to prevent this. I don't no what could be different that is why I am asking.

I currently have it setup as Talkgroup, should I change it? I'm only trying to monitor Meck Fire and Charlotte Fire nothing else.

I'm right on the Mecklenburg County / Iredell County Line in Mount Mourne. I'm about a mile from the Mount Mourne Fire House. I would guess I'm closest to the Davidson (Caldwell) Tower.

I can recieve the system just fine. When I program a conventional channel and assign multiple talkgroups to that one conventional channel it's works great. The down fall of doing it this way if I move the rotary switch I can affiliate onto the system and I can not control what is scanned and what isnt.
