I’ve been able to figure out some of the features of the BCD436 so far… Quick Keys still elude me though… but now I have a question regarding scanning CMPD frequencies.

Most districts, from what I can tell, are using primarily the P25 system; but I’ve noticed that most of the traffic from North and Central districts are coming through on the Motorola system (which doesn’t come through as clear as P25 where I live in Northern Union County). I can also hear those districts sometimes on P25 as well. I guess my question is: Are these two districts being simulcast on the Motorola system? If so, I can remove that system from my programming to keep the scanning loop as short as possible. Thanks.

All of CMPD is on the P25 system now. The reason you're hearing North on the analog side is due to some analog radios still in use by Huntersville PD & Davidson PD. I'm sure as much traffic as Central division sees there's still some stragglers around that are pulling the CMPD channel across analog as well.

The only thing you're going to miss if you lock out 0F18 is public works, and even then I've noticed RAIL OPS 1 & BUS OPS 1 on the P25 system as well. If it's just public safety you're after then 2D0 will suffice.

Thanks for your quick response and sorry for my delay... I saw your post earlier and I'm just now getting a chance to reply. What you said makes sense and helps... so thank you.

Another thing I was wondering is why Pineville PD is not on the P25 system... I'm sure at some point they will be, just wondering why that department isn't already.

Would anyone happen to have a file compatible with the BCD436HP with the CharMeck/UASI P25 setting fine tuned? I seem to always have issues here in Huntersville and there is one of the towers for this network is just a few miles down the road. I picked up an 800Mhz antenna from Radio Shack when I first got this.

I am still self educating myself about the P25 systems. I am still a bit confused on the P25 threshold settings and was hoping someone had a fine-tuned config file. I have the Uniden Sentinel software and ARC536Pro.

Private message me with your email and I will send you a file. Meanwhile make sure you go into the settings for the site and change auto to manual, with the threshold set at 8. If you are in Mecklenburg you may want to avoid the sites other than Mecklenburg Simulcast.

I have recently moved down here to Charlotte from Kansas, I brought my HomePatrol-1 with me, and with a little bit of research it looks like I should be able to use it down here. However, after updating the database and firmware, I can't seem to get much of anything on the Char/Meck Project 25.

If i lock it on there, it stops every once and awhile, but it seems to be missing a lot. Even if it does catch something, it sounds pretty bad. I am living in Uptown, so I can't imagine that I am overlapping too many of the simulcast towers.

Any help would be appreciated!

Wish I could help. I have tried other digital scanners and I can't say I like the audio, like you said it sounds pretty bad. That's what has kept me from buying one. You should be in a good place to get a signal, So I don't know what the problem is there.

You might check the database here to see if you are missing frequencies in the trunk group. The Home Patrol is supposed to do all that automatically or so I thought.
