I was just there a week or so ago. The database is pretty accurate. We were mostly interested in the beach patrol/rescue (153.8300) and some of the other local fire/rescue (154.3550 and 1555.055). Most of the PD/Sheriff activity was minimal and keep in mind that Currituck extends back to the mainland so if you're staying at the beach and only interested in the island, the PD/Sheriff can get a little confusing.

I guess I'm assuming you're a visitor going to the beach since it seems like no one really lives in the outer banks full time.
