Default Weather Radio - Ashe County

From the NWS:

...NOAA WEATHER RADIO STATION WNG-588 IN ASHE COUNTY MOUNT JEFFERSON
NORTH CAROLINA WILL PERMANENTLY CHANGE ITS FREQUENCY FRIDAY JANUARY
18TH...

THE BLACKSBURG OFFICE CONDUCTED FREQUENCY TESTS AT THE BEGINNING OF
DECEMBER AND ON THURSDAY JANUARY 10TH. THE PURPOSE OF THESE TESTS
WAS TO DETERMINE IF A CHANGE IN FREQUENCY ON THE ASHE COUNTY
TRANSMITTER WOULD ALLOW A NEW NOAA WEATHER RADIO
TRANSMITTER...LOCATED NEAR MOORESVILLE NORTH CAROLINA...TO BROADCAST
WITHOUT INTERFERENCE.

WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK OUR ASHE COUNTY NOAA WEATHER RADIO LISTENERS
AND ESPECIALLY THE AMATEUR RADIO COMMUNITY IN NORTHWEST NORTH
CAROLINA...FOR THE VALUABLE INPUT DURING AND AFTER THE TESTS. THE
RESULTS OF THE TESTS INDICATED THAT A CHANGE TO THE ASHE COUNTY
TRANSMITTER FREQUENCY WOULD ALLOW LIFE-SAVING WEATHER INFORMATION TO
BE BROADCAST TO A LARGER NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN WESTERN AND CENTRAL
NORTH CAROLINA...WITH THE NEW MOORESVILLE TRANSMITTER IN CONJUNCTION
WITH THE NEW FREQUENCY OF THE ASHE COUNTY TRANSMITTER.

THE BLACKSBURG NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN STAFF
WILL MAKE THE PERMANENT CHANGE OF THE FREQUENCY OF NOAA WEATHER
RADIO STATION WNG-588 IN ASHE COUNTY...MOUNT JEFFERSON NORTH
CAROLINA...FROM 162.525 MHZ...TO 162.500 MHZ...ON FRIDAY JANUARY
18TH.

THE RADIO WILL BE TAKEN OFF THE AIR...DURING THE MORNING...TO MAKE
THE CHANGE. DURING THE CHANGE...THE TRANSMITTER MAY BE
INTERMITTENTLY TRANSMITTING OR COMPLETELY OFF THE AIR. THIS WILL
ALLOW THE TECHNICIANS THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THE FREQUENCY AND
TUNE THE RADIO TO PROVIDE THE BEST POSSIBLE SIGNAL FOR OUR
CUSTOMERS.

THE CHANGE FROM 162.525 MHZ TO 162.500 MHZ IS EXPECTED TO BE
COMPLETED BY LATE AFTERNOON ON THE 18TH. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL
LISTENERS...MEDIA OUTLETS...AND OTHER USERS OF THE ASHE
COUNTY...MOUNT JEFFERSON NOAA WEATHER RADIO BROADCAST...CHANGE THEIR
NOAA WEATHER RADIO FREQUENCY FROM 162.525 MHZ...TO 162.500 MHZ...IN
ORDER TO RECEIVE THE BROADCAST OF WEATHER INFORMATION FROM THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE...INCLUDING WATCHES...WARNINGS AND
ADVISORIES TRANSMITTED FROM THE ASHE COUNTY NOAA...ALL
HAZARDS...WEATHER RADIO.

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ABOUT THIS CHANGE...PLEASE CONTACT
THE BLACKSBURG NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE ANYTIME AT
540-552-0084.

So I take it the new Mooresville site will transmit on 162.525 MHz.

Also where will the tower for the Mooresville site be located?

Looking at the signal contour map listed on the NWR website, a good guess might be the Town of Mooresville 800 TRS tower.

Added: Also, there appears to be an Iredell County VHF\UHF tower in the same general area.

Added More: Must be the county site. Found a reference.

14. Request for Approval of a Lease with the National Weather Service in Regards to the Installation of an All-Hazards Transmitter at the Rhinehart Road Tower: Communications Director David Martin said the National Weather Service desired to place an antenna (890 feet) on the Rhinehardt tower. He said a ten-year-renewable lease was proposed, and the county would assume the electricity costs (estimate of $75 a month). Martin said the county’s citizens would benefit by having better signal strength.
