Caught most of the ODH hospital roll call today, and since ODH is in Columbus (and uses control stations) I was able to catch nearly every hospital in the state with Unitrunker. Didn't hear all of them as they had two people with two radios doing the tests, but I did see all of them as they popped up on the display. Good thing is that they had to call most of them twice, plus each hospital gave their name when they answered, so there was absolutely no mistaking who they were calling...

Here's what I did hear. Lots of new ones as well as a bunch of corrections:

Wow the new Dublin Hospital is not in there. Wow how could that happen. :)

"We're Dublin Memorial. We don't need a MARCS radio." Of course, they said the same thing about the local radio also; now they have one.

And I may have missed it. I was giving priority to the unidentified talkgroups over those already known.

Latest confirmed talkgroup list

All;

Did some more monitoring this morning during my "coffee break" and have now got the the point where most of the hospital talkgroups are now 100% confirmed through monitoring.

The only exceptions are the Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo areas; I put those at the bottom of the list for monitoring as they're in metro areas with a much larger proportion of listeners, so I'm assuming they're correct. I also have several hospitals outside the metro areas not yet confirmed but not many.

Here's the current list, as monitored:

Why didn't they just assign them one of the 'unassigned' talkgroups already allotted for Franklin County?

I wondered that myself, but who knows what lurks in the mind of MARCS???? Dublin Methodist Hospital has a MARCS talkgroup and radio now, so everybody should theoretically be happy.

Personally, if I were ODH I would be assigning a radio and talkgroup to every hospital in the state that can do overnight stays; in the event of a pandemic, every single hospital facility is potentially going to be filled to the gills.

Even if first responders are not outfitted with the talkgroups for hospitals that do not have an emergency service component, at least ODH would be able to contact those hospitals quickly for coordination purposes.

How about for any clinic type (St. Joe's in Andover, for example) facility. They are more of an Urgent Care facility and not a full-blown hospital.

There's one in Southern Cuyahoga County, also. I'm sure there are more throughout the state.

I suspect the idea there is that local health departments will forward urgent care information on to ODH. When you start adding urgent care centers you're talking about a likely doubling of the number of assets requiring coordination, and that's really starting to push the limits of span of control (read up on NIMS and you'll see what I mean).

I think ODH is primarily going to be concerned with acute cases requiring a hospital stay.

More hospital updates

More monitoring today. Unfortunately, I got called away from my desk by urgent work-related business so I was only able to verify a handful this week.

Here's this week's installment; more (hopefully the rest) to come next week...

29568 HOS-0402 Brown Memorial Hospital (Conneaut)
34144 HOS-0901 McCullogh-Hyde Hospital (Oxford)*
34160 HOS-0902 Mercy Hospital (Fairfield)
34192 HOS-0904 Ft. Hamilton Hospital (Hamilton)*
8544 HOS-1101 Mercy Memorial Hospital (Urbana)*
34208 HOS-1301 Mercy Hospital (Clermont)
34224 HOS-1401 Clinton Memorial Hospital (Wilmington)*
29632 HOS-1502 Salem Community Hospital (Salem)*
49632 HOS-1601 Coshocton County Memorial Hospital (Coshocton)
30272 HOS-3901 Fisher-Titus Medical Center (Norwalk)
30288 HOS-3902 Mercy Hospital (Willard)
34544 HOS-4001 Holzer Medical Center (Jackson)
30432 HOS-4704 Allen Medical Care (Oberlin)

The Columbus and Toledo areas are now verified as well as well as a partial verification of Cleveland, but those areas are already assumed to be correct. Otherwise there are only 12 to go and the whole list will be done.

Whew!!!

Finished it up today (mostly). Only two left to confirm, Dublin Memorial Hospital in Dublin and Hocking Valley Hospital in Logan.

The roll call today took what seemed like forever (well over an hour); seems many hospitals just weren't too interested in answering today.

Here are todays loggings:

34112 HOS-0101 Adams County Hospital (West Union)
29456 HOS-0201 St. Rita's Medical Center (Lima)
29472 HOS-0202 Lima Memorial Hospital (Lima)
29488 HOS-0203 Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center (Bluffton)
29536 HOS-0301 Samaritan Hospital (Ashland)
29552 HOS-0401 Ashtabula County Medical Center (Ashtabula)
29568 HOS-0402 Brown Memorial Hospital (Conneaut)
29584 HOS-0403 Geneva Medical Center (Geneva)
29600 HOS-0404 St Joe's Andover (Andover)
31792 HOS-2602 Archbold Hospital (Archbold)
30224 HOS-3301 Hardin Memorial Hospital (Kenton)
49680 HOS-3701 probably Hocking Valley Community Hospital (Logan)
30256 HOS-3801 Pomerene Hospital (Millersburg)
30432 HOS-4704 Allen Medical Care (Oberlin)
36528 HOS-4705 Avon Emergency Care Center (Avon)
30672 HOS-5004 St. Elizabeth Health Center (Youngstown)
8928 HOS-5401 Mercer Health (Coldwater)
30960 HOS-7201 Memorial Hospital (Fremont)
31392 HOS-8501 Dunlap Community Hospital (Orrville)

Even managed to confirm most of the Dayton, Cleveland and Toledo hospitals today and as expected, they matched what was already here in the database.

Hopefully I can get 2502 and 3701 next week and close this project out...
