Lake County vs Cuyahoga Geauga Lake P25
Just some thoughts on the Lake County system vs. the Marcs 25 system.
If you just want to hear the Lake County System.
Enter the Lake County System CC channels and alternate channels and nothing else on a separate system. (No other CC or alternate channels.)
You will need to be within hearing distance of the Lake County System CC channels.
You may want to add a wildcard for your stand-alone system. This will tell you of any other TG’s outside of the system. This would also give you the linked TG’s (outside of the 27500-30000) should they broadcast on the system.
I have done this and it works well. This will also give you faster scanning for your TG’s.
The Lake County System uses the TG’s between 27500-30000.
The same can be applied to the Geauga and or Cuyahoga part of the system.

Have you heard any TGs outside of Lake County using a wildcard?
This is what complicates your (correct) instructions when applied to the Cuyahoga side. A wildcard on the Cuyhoga system does pull in Lake County TGs. Then it becomes one giant mish-mash of traffic. That may be OK for some people. But not preferred for me.
So on my Cuyahoga system with a wildcard, I had to include ALL TGs, then lock out all the Lake Co. TGs. And will have to keep locking out additional Lake Co. TGs. This is what allows me to hear just the Cuyahoga TGs.

GHF,
I agree with your statement that setting up separate scan lists for the various MARCS P25 systems seems to work better. At least for me (my scanner) it does. When I tried sticking them all together in one scan list, my scanner did not decode well at all. My scanner seems to be able to (decode) lock on to the TG's better (with less garble) when they are separated.
I was a little confused when I first read your post, because there is no Lake County vs Lake P25 system. The old Lake County Moto Type II system was shutdown. Everything from the old Lake County system is now on the MARCS Lake County P25 system.

Just an observation .. heard Orange FD toned out and announced on their UHF freq, nothing on MARCS P25 ... then dispatch announces the run on Orange (Chagrin PD) MARCS P25 system, since PD is made aware of FD runs ... Orange FD respond on MARCS P25, simulcast on the UHF frequency .. all this seems kind of weird. Maybe this is transitional .. but sure seems like dispatcher workload is increased.

TG13503 WestCom Fire Dispatch testing
I've been hearing testing today on TG13503 which is designated as WestCom Fire Dispatch. The tech referred to this channel (TG13503) as WestShore channel 1.
The tech also mentioned testing on WestShore channel 2, but I haven't heard any other testing. The only new wildcard hits today that I heard was the Solon PD on 14490.

If you keep the two systems separate (New Lake P25 and New Cuyahoga, Geauga Lake P25) with control channels only for each system (Lake vs Cuyahoga) you will not hear traffic on each other system other than TG’s that are near or associated with each system.
Reminder do not include the New Lake County System CC’s to the Cuyahoga System, keep separate.
Adding a wild card to each separate system will give you any associated TG’s to either system.
Yes using this method I have heard Lake County System on the Cuyahoga System and visa versa but only TG’s that are associated or near the other system towers.
I hope this helps…..

I tried just entering all the lake county CC but it still seems to be distorted. I am using a pro96 and I've never had this problem before. I'm going to buy an RS 800 MHz antenna to see if that helps. If not, I'll be debating on buying a new scanner and trying to sell the 96, but after reading other posts I don't know if that will work. I may just give it some time but what is the hope that something within the new p25 system will change?

Yes it's been a problem for a lot of us with the P25 systems. Read thru the posts in this thread and see what is explained.

I've heard Solon PD simulcast their talk group on their conventional frequency.
My PSR-500 receives them perfectly on the trunked system, but both my 800s show data, but fail to produce voice (I've always hated the 800s for this).
Does anyone know if any of the local streaming live feeds include the new MARCS P25 system?

Tgrp 27514
Hearing activity on TGRP 27514. Sounds like fire communication related to the Paineville Township plant fire.

Heard traffic on 27515 for the Painesville fire as well. Could not confirm if it was a TAC.

The Fire Command for the Painesville fire can be heard on TG27510 (TAC 1) on both Lake and Cuyahoga systems.

So I brought my PSR-800 with me to work today. Went for a ride around Mentor at lunch time. I cannot completely confirm that I picked up every transmission that I should have. I had the lake county police and fire feed playing on my iPhone at the same time and there were times that my scanner was silent and the feed had traffic, and vice-versa. I'm guessing there is a delay on the feed through my phone, but I never once heard a repeat transmission from one to the other which I figured sooner or later something would come up.
What I can confirm is that I never did have a garbled or distorted transmission. All of the police depts. including Mentor came in loud and clear. I even saw Solon one or twice. and of course I picked a good day with all of the FD radio traffic.
In case anyone one is wondering I traveled around the areas of Mentor Stations 5 and 4.
