I know nothing about the MARCs except for the fact that it is a Multi-Agency radio system.
The type of Radio CCSO(Clark Co Sheriff) will be using at encrypted or not encrypted? Please let me know, I need to know if investing in a Pro-106 would be a good decision, I don't want to get one and then end up not being able to hear them! Thanks!

If you only enter the Cuyahoga system CC channels and not the Lake County side CC channels you should only heard the Cuyahoga and Geauga TG's other than any Lake County TG's near any Cuyahoga Tower or linked to the Cuyahoga side.
I have only heard maybe five (5) Lake Co TG's on the Cuyahoga side and they are the TG's boarding on the Cuyahoga system. (Willo Hills, Willoughby, Kirtland, and the Lake Metro Parks).
I would not put any Lake County TG's into your stand alone Cuyahoga System. If you do not want to hear and don't use a wildcard otherwise yes you will need to lock any that show up if you do not want to hear.
Something else to consider.....shorter is better for antenna size for this system

That was WA8PYR's doing. It is indeed easier to make sense of.

Unless someone from the sheriff's office chimes in there is no way to know until they actually start using the system. Maybe you should hold off purchasing one until that happens if it is that big of a concern to you. The only non state agency full time encryption MARCS user I can think of is Findlay Police.

Clark SO will still dispatch in the clear. They are going to have two TAC talkgroups that will be encrypted.

marcs 700
I was told yesterday the Bearcat 996 will not accept the 700 system so it will not be able to be monitored. Is there indeed a scanner that will accept a 700 digital system

The Bearcat 996 will indeed accept the allocated 700 MHZ frequencies. I already have the new system programmed in my 996s and am now just waiting on a control channel signal to appear.

I'm using the 800 mhz freqs as shown in RRDB. I hear nothing, zilch, nada. I can hear other MARCS stuff like OSHP just fine. I'm only 2 or 3 miles from the Wickliffe tower, I'm using a roof-mounted discone, and used to hear Lake County's old trunking system even with no antenna attached, so it can't be my location. HP-1 firmware version is 2.01 with extreme upgrade.
HELP!!! IS ANYONE IN OR NEAR LAKE COUNTY HEARING LAKE COUNTY P25 ON AN HP-1?
|
EUREKA! My HP-1 is now receiving the new Lake County MARCS P25 system loud and clear. It turns out that Sentinel's (Sentinel is Uniden's PC-based software for configuring an HP-1) data base has Lake County defined as a P25 X2-TDMA system. However, when I downloaded the Sentinel info (favorite list) to my HP-1, the HP-1 did not recognize P25 X2-TDMA and defaulted to a Motorola 800/900 standard system instead. But after changing my Sentinel favorite list to a P25 STANDARD system and downloading it to the HP-1, it's working fine now. Signal strength is huge, audio is fine, and I hear traffic from all over Lake County. I'm using only the 800 mhz frequencies.
Has Geauga County fully converted to P25? I hear no Geauga County traffic on the 800 mhz P25 freqs. Do I need the 700 mhz Cuyahoga freqs to hear Geauga P25?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; CPU iPhone OS 5_1_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B206 Safari/7534.48.3)
Geauga County is still on their current system.

I ran the HP-1 Trunked System Analyzer, which shows freqs allocated real-time by the control channel, against the Lake County P25 system at various times over the last few days. Besides freqs that ARE in RRDB, it shows the following additional frequencies that ARE NOT in RRDB:
851.0062
854.4375
854.4625
854.6625
854.8875
855.4375
855.9375
857.9812
863.8062
851.0062, 857.9812, 863.8062 seem strange (not ending in 25 or 75), but HP-1 shows them.

I don't know how the HP-1 works, but some of that data is obviously corrupt (specifically those three freqs you mentioned). If possible, clear everything out of the analyzer for that system and start from scratch. The first hint you get of oddness, stop there and list what new freqs youv'e seen thus far.
Is 868.7625 still being used on that system/

Here's what the HP-1's Current Activity display does:
As channel grants are issued, the table will populate with the frequencies in use on the system. The currently active Talk Group ID and Unit ID on a frequency will also be shown during a transmission.
The following 11 frequencies consistently display every time I run the analysis:
854.4125
854.4375
854.4625
854.6625
854.8875
854.9875
855.4375
855.7875
855.8625 (Control Channel)
855.9375
868.7625
The alternate control channels are not displayed, which I guess is to be expected.
851.0062 usually shows up, but has a Logical Channel Number (LCN) of 0. The other 2 goofy frequencies rarely show up but I remember that they also had goofy LCNs. I never catch them as they initially pop up on the display, so I don't know what (if any) TGIDs appeared during the transmission. At this point I think their accuracy is suspect. If I ever get more solid info on them, I'll post that here.

Ok, thanks. I forgot how nice that analyzer is in there . I remember seeing a Youtube vide of it in action before.
I've updated the frequencies [except the three that we know are not correct].
Thanks!

Looking for talkgroup listings during the big fire in Painesville Twp on Thursday was driving me nuts... so I did something about it.
Sure was a lot easier now than it will be when a major case of database bloat sets in!

With those radio IDs you're correct in assuming Cuyahoga County; I can't help beyond that.

To LZ56 ... scroll back to page 19 of this thread to read about Geauga P25 / MARCS 25 .... not sure why the TGs for Geaga Police & Fire are already displayed in the database .. they are not active.
Not even sure how we know them .. somebody in the "know" must have got them.

Scanners normally only display 4 decimal places - the last "5" is really there (or so I'm told)

Tgrp 14498
Hearing communication on TGRP 14498. Sounds like auxillary channel for the Chagrin Valley PDs. Couldn't tell if it was Moreland Hills or one of the other villages covered by Chagrin dispatch.
