Lake County MABAS boxes follow this format: xxyz
xx = Department number, same as the apparatus numbering, 27 is Painesville Twp.
y = Zone, departments may have boxes that differ in different parts of their district, usually this matches the station #, so a 2 is probably a box for the PTFD station #2 area.
z = Type of box, here's the table:
0 Target
1 Residential (low)
2 Medium
3 High
4 Specialized Rescue (i.e., high water, dive, ice, fast water, trench, high angle, confined space)
5 Wildland/grass
6 Multi-victim Medical/Fire
7 HazMat
8 Tanker
9 Medical
Put it together and box 2722 is a medium hazard box for Painesville Twp FD station #2.

Thanks, I did hear that last night too and picked up one radio ID and it was 4364 (mentor schools). I did not catch the id of the other half. I was thinking the same thing.

Bud:
These are genaric drills. More than likely for department officer training and or interdepartment trainning.
Street names and unit numbers are for drill only.
These drills are more than likely held at a fire station and not on an actual fire site.
They may use it seems any Lake Channel they wish as approved via Lake County Central. Re: Tac 4...or a trainning channel.

This is why every unit participating in a drill should do what the military, and many civilian agencies do, and that is state in each transmission "This Is An Exercise".

They announced it as a drill at the start of each exercise. If you look at my first post, you'll see that the Title is: TG27513 Fire Drill.
The first drill that I monitored (12:30 to 1:00) had radio ID's from both Lake and Geauga counties. I was curious as to which departments were participating. I was hoping someone from Lake or Geauga might recognize the radio ID's.
kf8yk post's provided great info regarding MABAS boxes, identified Concord Twp Fire as hosting the drill and identified the type of drill a Blue Card simulation.
It's what I like about RR.

I have been camped on this for the last 1 1/2 hours and not heard a peep. All transmissions are still on the analog system. Perhaps during the day I will hear some voice traffic. I hope this is not the end of my scanning days if this ends up like the rest of the P-25 system of 50% garble. The analog system is just great. Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke don't fix it" (smirk).

Bud [or anyone else capable of running Pro96Com/Unitrunker],
Can you see if you are able to pick up the control channels for sites 2-008, 2-020 and 2-021? If you are able, please run Pro96Com / Unitrunker on them and obtain the alternate CCs and site neighbors.
Thanks. I've updated the DB with the information you presented, Bud.

Wednesday morning and I am hearing radio testing for the Geauga P-25 system. They are using Talkgroup 19539 on CC 855.21250. I don't have Pro96Com or Unitrunker.

19540 is School Bus. Not sure which school system yet. I am guessing at this point it is either WestG or Metzenbaum.
My fears have come true. The system sounds terrible.

John,
You don't know what you're missing [not having Pro96Com or UT]. It's really interesting to monitor system information. Granted, unless you have two scanners, you wouldn't listen to voice while using UT or Pro96Com. But it's quite interesting to watch the traffic. This is especially true on a new system where there are new talkgroups and radio IDs popping up all the time. If you have a BCD396/996XT, PSR-500/600/800, PRO-106/197/96/2096 and a programming cable, it's pretty easy to get Pro96Com set up.
At any rate, enjoy the new system! Hopefully you're problems with decode quality improve. Our county will be moving to a P25 system in the next two years. I imagine it will be simulcast, so I'm probably going to end up experiencing the same thing.

TG 19540
TG 19540
Hearing what I beleive is 28 SC Chardon. (I have identified for my use as this alpha and or description)
School buses on this TG.
Radio ID's heard on TG 19540 were 2807554-2807602 but not inclusive.
Hits on TG 19539 but have missed the comms to identify.

I communicated with the Geauga System programmer this AM. Only schools are on the System at the present time. I have heard 19539, 19540, 19545. 19539 traffic dealt with telling users how to key the radio; 19540 dealt with actual school bus traffic; 19545 dealt with maintenance of patching holes in driveways.
This will be fun to watch as the other users come on line.

Gotta love these P25 systems .. 19540 comes in crystal clear on Cuyahoga site for me,
breaks up on Geauga site.. Hope everything Geauga public safety wise is simulcast on Cuyahoga tower .. For me !

Thanks for the heads up; I have been largely ignoring the allocated Geauga channels. I am doubtful of good reception when I get home! Their beautiful analog is the last of a dying breed out here.

Make sure you have all control channels for geauga lake and cuyahoga in your scanner for this system. I see via rr geauga control channel has been added to the system.
