I'm quite sure that the majority of those unknown 2-xxx sites are in NE Ohio. Stark / Summit / Mahoning / Lorain / Ashtabula / etc.

We need people to start scanning 700 Mhz and reporting on all of the sites that they find. I'm sure there are more out there that nobody knows about simply because you, I and Tom can't pick them up direct from our locations. The NE digital scanner enthusiasts need to jump on board and pull out their digital scanners and Pro96Com and start looking for active 700 mhz control channels and reporting on them [along with the location they were monitored from].

I am in Mahoning county (Canfield) and am able to pick up site 2-019 with one bar of signal. Screen reads 0348h-0219.

I have not hit any TGIDs as of yet on my BCD-396xt, but have been searching the 700 band periodically.

I'm guessing that the control channel frequency for Site 0219 is the only 700 mhz control channel you can pick up from your location, is that correct? It helps to know that. I'm also presuming you are using either the stock ducky antenna or an 800 mhz ducky antenna [vs an external antenna] ?

I'd ask you to consider running Pro96com on that site [and I'd walk you through getting it set up], but I have a feeling that one bar is not adequate enough signal to get a reliable decode of control channel data in Pro96Com.

My guess so far is that 2-019 might actually be the Ohio State Penetentiary or Trumbull Correctional MARCS-IP site. Perhaps even Salem, but I believe I'd hear it from here in Jefferson Co if it were Salem.

How close would you say you are to Ohio State Pen and Trumbull Correctional?

Correct, this is the only control channel I can pick up from my location with my stock duck antenna.

I downloaded Pro96com, adjusted the settings and could not receive any data. I even tried with the Austintown P25 system to see if I could gather anything and I couldn't with 5 bars... Any suggestions as to settings?

As for OSP and TCI, I am about 20 miles from there.

I'll respond via private message since I'm going to go off topic and try to help you get Pro96Com working.

Default Geauga County

I'm hearing the Geauga Co. Sheriff Dept for the first time on this system 1:00 AM Sunday. Very clear from the east side of Cleveland using a HP-1. I heard some of the Geauga schools all week but nothing PD or FD. Switch over maybe??

I'm receiving Geauga Sheriff 19504 off the Cuyahoga tower sites,
all the unit IDs display as 2800370 ... Some sort of patch ? Or ???

I'm not getting the traffic off a Geauga tower.. Seem to have issues with reception.. Time for an attic antenna adjustment !

And upon further review, seems unit ID display holds up a lot longer on this system than others I monitor, so it seems like the next unit talking is not displaying their ID on my HP .. at least from my location.

I live 1 mile from TCI and have a full scale signal on 773.0812 with a rubber duck. Site ID is 0348h-0221.

Take the antenna off the radio and see if you can still hear the control channel. If so, that's likely the TCI site.

OK, that pretty much nails that one. I'd say TCI. Please submit to the database if you haven't already.

And just to clarify, you are talking about Trumbull Correctional, correct?

Not hearing much, if anything, on Geauga system lately ... how about anyone else ?
For whatever reason my reception drops out at times, as indicated by the HP-1 system analyzer.

On the other hand, I plugged in the new P25 Portage / Shalersville CC .. that comes in very strong. I get Solon and Chagrin PD off this tower (but not Fire ?? ) , even though I also get them off the Cuyhaoga system just fine. I'm hoping maybe Geauga will affiliate with the Portage tower in future ...

Hi,

Since you have the system analyzer, could you tune to the Shalersville site and obtain the active frequencies in use, primary / alt control channel, and any site neighbors?

If you're willing to do that, you can post the info here, PM it to me, or submit it to the RRDB. Whatever you prefer.

Thank you,

Mike
