Yeah it seems to be a major problem. I think my favorite is when dispatch says dont touch your buttons and its too late and the computer goes haywire. Happend to my uncle once. he was AOR for a couple hours.

Haha, I know the feeling. We touched our button once when we weren't supposed to and it resulted in a trip down to the FAO to get it fixed because it somehow screwed up our Windows. Go figure!
And being stuck on AOR is better than being stuck on AV MDC which is a new button we got in the upgrade. A lot of people started using that not realizing that they had to man their MDC because if you are AV MDC and leave your truck to say, go into McDonald's or gas up the truck, if the radio is busy, they actually won't tone you out over the radio and the next thing you hear is, "Checking your response!"
I remember a battalion chief replying: "Response to where?" Made us all crack up!

BN8FG
Battalion 8 fireground if I recall the template correctly is initially set up to be for high rise operations, but for fire runs that occur in Hamilton or Madison Townships where no Columbus equipment is responding, Battalion 181 or Chief 171 will cover as the command officer on the run, and since there is no BN181FG or BN171FG, they can sometimes use BN8.
Anyone remember way back in the day when Battalion 7 fireground was the mutual aid fireground channel? I'll never forget one time Engine 175 took a fire alarm with Columbus, and they marked over the VHF 10-Fire, the dispatcher told them to go to Battalion 7, and they said they didn't have it.
Long live Engine 62.
KQJ-943 forever.

Gotta watch out for those Perry second alarms (dumpster fire and car fire at the same time).
"Engine 92, 943. Signal O! We're in service."

I might have to disagree with this statement. Neither township has enough equipment to cover fire runs, so CFD would always be dispatched. Not to mention a batallion chief would be dispatched since the run would be coming out of Columbus Fire Dispatch. The same can be said for Franklin Twp.

I may have to make this harder. CFD would only be dispatched per a large incident or a higher command incident. For years when thier was a fire in my neighborhood I would have HAMILTON TWP and MADISONTWP no CFD we actually had the LCK ARFF respond instead. The only time CFD would respond is if it was an apartment or high rise fire. We would need thier ladder truck and an engine. I remember only seeing and hearing them. This was until two years ago. Ever since CFD now dispatches Hamilton CFD will always respond to fire only for MA also for shootings. Medic runs are only hamilton still. They respond now because LCK only will send an engine and they no longer do fire runs only as needed. It was quite confusing back then. It's all changed since CFD started dispatching them.

Incorrect; I've heard runs fairly regularly where Engines 181 and 172, Ladder 172, Rescue 221 etc are on the card and no Columbus equipment.
Columbus isn't always the "be all, end all" of of fire protection in Franklin County; the suburbs do actually work well with one another, in some cases better than Columbus. And it works both ways; there are areas of Columbus where CFD just can't do it alone.

Agreed - it's certainly not an impossibility based on the particular location. Although I'm not sure if I'd say that fire runs like that occur regularly.

Fire Alarm in Lockbourne or Obetz:
Engines 171 and 181, Ladder 172, Battalion 181.
There.

Don't forget Battalion 4. He responds only if he's not busy usually no lights or siren. If they need him. Sometimes also if bn181 is out of service.

Columbus Battalion Chiefs don't respond to out of jurisdiction runs unless a Columbus apparatus is responding, they are specifically requested, or they add on as an extra command officer. If Battalion 181 or Chief 171 or Chief 60 or Battalion 51 or Chief 190 are in service, they cover runs in their areas.
