Is it possible the jail has the new radios, just not using a talkgroup on the trunked system?

If that is the case, why? They would have to use a repeater and comply with the new rules in 01-01-2013. Would it not be easier and cheaper to use a talk group on the trunked system like Lake Co.? Based on my experience with Cuyahoga County the Jail should be the last to go to a new equipment system.

So, here's another question regarding the Cleveland P25 and the MARCS-IP Systems. I recall, maybe a year or so ago, the county discussing working with MARCS to develop the countywide system, as it was being bulit. Now, all of a sudden, CCSO ends up on the Cleveland one, while the suburbs are tending towards the MARCS-IP.

Are these slated to merge? Did CCSO abandon the MARCS-IP for Cleveland P25 or are things still in flux as these are built out to their full implementation?

Pretty exciting time for our hobby.

Wonder if it's the Sheriff picking up CPD's slack. ie committing to a marine unit. Suggesting support for a joint aviation unit to get CPD flying again?

The new Sheriff has been doing a lot to work with CPD and clean up the department as much as possible. Could very well be that he had to commit to CLE's radio system so they could get it rolling, otherwise it would continue to stagnate for another decade.

Default Tg 56542

Picked up traffic on 56542 but was unable to determine who it was based upon the nature of the conversation. Continuing to monitor. Still crossing my fingers that the Cuyahoga County Jail will move to the CPS P25.

CCSO is probably using the CLE system for coverage reasons; it appears from posts I've been seeing here that most of the SO traffic has been related to the jail, the courthouse and other services concentrated downtown. With the Cleveland system having better coverage and capacity in downtown Cleveland (and being primary for CPD), it's logical that they would elect to use it.

As far as the CLE system connecting to MARCS-IP and thus the system for the rest of the county, it's certainly possible and would make sense, but time will tell. Remember, this is government... Cleveland style. Hasn't changed much since I was a near resident of the area.

Default PSR-600 Settings

Hi Group; I have a question for everyone. I have a PSR-500 and PSR-800 and while monitoring the New Cleveland system the 600 does not receive as well as the 800. I understand the the 800 a new generation unit and will track better. The question is has anyone tweeked a 600 / 500 to help with monitoring the system? Thanks, Bill

Anyone having any difficulty hearing the system today ? Could just be my location (Portage County), but it has been crystal clear thru Friday, but yesterday and today, can't acquire the signal at all .. seems odd to suddenly lose signal strength.

Receiving the system OK from my location. It's not unusual for there to be less traffic on the weekends. Only a handful of departments are currently on the system.

I added 56003 off a submission just now. It also only ID'd it as Streets. Hopefully time will allow for it to be distinguished from 56219, also only ID'd as Streets.

Also, I was considering chang the DB name for this system. The current name of "Cleveland Public Safety (Project 25) System" is misleading. Most of the current users are Public Service, not Public Safety. I would just change the name to "Cleveland (Project 25)".

Thoughts or objections?

System name change sounds good, I changed system name on my favorites a while back.

56219 seems to referred to as OPERATIONS ... I'd suggest change it to Streets Division-Operations

56546 is a TAC channel for SO, I believe.
I monitored a sting operation and some "other stuff" a while ago that will probably be ENC soon.
Heard mention of "MTAC"? as well on this TG.
