Default Tg56219

Monitoring traffic traffic on TG56219 regarding street salting. Also heard comments regarding the trucks from the ridge road garage not having the new radio's installed yet. Dispatch is having to make calls on both (old and new) radio systems.

I will be submitting this TG as the Division of Streets.

Got no hits at all on TG 56329 this past week. Lots on 56219. Is 56329 in error?

Don't know where I got the info re: TG 56329

Thought from this blog but may have read the numbers wrong.

No no hits either. I will delete from my scanner.

Sorry for any confusion.

Well you just said that and I reaffirmed it. Search doesn't come up with it here.

It's says TG56329 in the database.

So regarding encoded transmissions, and encryption from a few posts ago: are you (collectively) hearing noise through the speaker, or are you hearing nothing?

If I recall correctly, listening to encrypted ODNR TGs on MARCS produces silence on the PSR-500. Would an encrypted TG on this system behave the same way?

I have been hearing the good old simulcast garble on Cleveland P25. Could this be mistaken for encryption?

Location, location, location...

The Cleveland P25 system has the best audio quality at my QTH than the other P25s and I am probably less likely to actually monitor it when it's fully up and running.

I'm so close to the Schaaf road tower I can receive Cleveland P25 with 3 to 4 bars with no antenna. Both pixilation and encryption sound different than simulcast garble.

It's not simulcast garble. I've monitored four radio id's on this TG, three of the four are encrypted. One radio id 1879201 is not transmitting encrypted.

With my PSR-500 I hear/receive encrypted transmissions on P25 systems. When Parma Hts first went live on the Parma P25, their three TG's were in the clear. Then they switched their TAC TG's to encryption, leaving their dispatch in the clear. I locked out the Parma Hts. encrypted TG's.

I was wondering how to find specific radio ids when monitoring a talkgroup on the PSR 500.

Also, I am hoping that the only encryption that we will hear on the the Cleveland system will relate to sensitive police tac channels rather than to normal police, fire and ems activities.

Default Encryption

It was definitely encryption, On the GRE PSR-800 a "E" shows up in the corner. I agree some transmissions don't need to heard. But I don't know how much everyone heard but the guy that was not encrypted was very upset on how the radios were performing. He kept saying can anyone hear me! I wonder if Brad will get that feedback.

The radios have a switch on them so when they go back to main TG they can turn it off. The encryption is on transmit and other radios on system that are flashed with encryption can receive.

Regarding radio ids. The PSR 500 picks up the initiating radio's id, typically the dispatcher. If another radio responds before the system time out period you won't see the second radio's id.

But, you can make a setting change to your PSR 500's Delay Time. I changed mine to 4000 (which is 4 seconds). Even though the P25 system has timed out, my radio is still paused on the TG. If another radio responds after the P25 system time out but within the 4 second delay on my radio, I see the responding radio's id.

Do the following:
Make sure display radio ids is turned on. If you use Win500 the setting (Show Radio IDs for group calls) is on the Extended Settings tab (page) on the right side of the page.

Next change the Delay Time out for the TG's. With Win500 I can highlight the TG's and change the setting in one pass.

Hope this helps.

So if the radio is setup to use encryption. It will automatically will decode encrypted transmissions. But, the user has to push a button to turn on encryption for transmissions.

So regarding the one user who's was in the clear, it's just a training issue.

You're supposed to tell us admins when we butchered something royally I meant to add it as 56219 but added 56329 (hit 32 on keyboard instead of 21).

It's corrected. 56219 Division of Streets

Haha. I guess that's a lesson to not always believe what I enter in the dB. If it looks odd, call me out on it. I make mistakes all the time
