Default TG56168 & TG56169

TG56168 & TG56169 have been very active today. Traffic on both TG's dealing with sewers, catch basins and a partial street cave in related to a sewer.

TG56169 is referred to as Base 1, the dispatchers radio ID is 1847202.

TG56168 is referred to as Base 2, the dispatchers radio ID is 1847201.

A truck from Base 2 called in on Base 1's TG. The dispatcher told the driver to change to Sewer 2. The driver replied back on Base 2's TG.

Note 1: The same person dispatches for both TG's. He occasionally uses the same radio for both TG's. Which makes things confusing, not just for monitoring but also for the field units.

Note 2: I've monitored both east side and west side traffic on both Base's TG's. Base 1 and Base 2 just seems to be the originating locations for the field crews.

Anyone have additional info? Should these TG's be posted as the Sewer Department?

Default North Royalton (SWRCN) Article

Thunderbolt posted a link to a Cleveland Plain Dealer/Sun Post article regarding North Royalton's (SWRCN) decision to merge with Cleveland.

North Royalton, OH - safety forces to join Cleveland's new radio system

The following numbers surprised me. North Royalton has 1162 radio's, they will receive 3 dispatch consoles valued at $180,000 and their yearly cost will be $20,000 about the same as it is now.

Breaking down the $20,000/year cost to a per radio per month it works out to $1.44.

If the above numbers are correct, it explains why the County Sheriff chose Cleveland ($1.44/month) over MARCS ($20/month) per radio cost.

One question, can someone verify that North Royalton has 1162 radio's? Maybe it just me, but it sounds like a rather large number for a town that size. It sounds more like the radio count for all of SWRCN.

Strongsville is about the same population and area and their website reports they have 72 police officers. I don't think the 1162 radios is for just N. Royalton.

Default TG-56241

I can confirm that TG 56241 is an administration channel for the sanitation dept.
I heard on the sanitation east channel for someone to go to the admin channel and 56241 came up. Just an FYI for the data base.

Default TG56011 radio tests

Last two nights I've been monitoring radio tests on TG56011. Roughly two to three test per hour. I saw a radio id of 1849XXX.

Default TG56230

Heard a call around 1:15 pm to the Willow Street Bridge Operator on TG56230. Radio ID of the caller was 1822XXX.

Can anyone link this to a department or division?

Default TG56183

Have been monitoring dispatch to field units this evening on TG56183. The Dispatch radio id has changed (back and forth) from id 0 to id 1022. The field units radio id's are 1849XXX.

Typical traffic is the following: Dispatch to 302, disconnect order for (address given).

I also heard traffic regarding the trucks not being able to use the city fuel pumps (located near East 49th street across from Burke Lakefront). Someone had shut them down and they wouldn't be operational till Monday.

For the past week I've been monitoring radio tests for radio's with 1849XXX on the following TG's. TG56011, TG56180, TG56188, TG56191 and now dispatch traffic on TG56183. I suspect that TG56011 is a Radio Setup TG. I've heard radio tests on TG56011 with radio id's other than 1849XXX for the last two weeks.

The radio traffic on TG56183 for disconnect notices sounds like something that CPP (Cleveland Public Power) might do. Can anyone confirms this or provide addition info regarding TG56183 or radio id's 1849XXX.

mrlightfoor and KW,

Thanks for the quick replies and additional info.

The first calls I heard this morning were for locations on Wallings Road and Chagrin Road, definitely not CPP territory. The Chagrin Road call was for a leak in a 3 inch line.

So far I've noted traffic for this group on six TG's in a range from 56180 to 56191.

I've heard dispatch calls on two TG's, 56183 (Cleveland near east side) and 56187 (Chagrin Road in Beachwood, far east side).

Default TG56183

Water Dept Dispatch on TG56183 has been calling to field units and transmitting radio checks for the last 20 plus minutes with no replies.

Everyone turn off their radio's and take a break?

Default Cleveland Water Dept

For the last week I have monitored the Cleveland Water Department with radio id's 1849XXX on:
TG's 56180, 56181, 56183, 56186, 56187, 56188, 56189 and 56191.

The City of Cleveland's Department website refers to the Water Department with three name variations. The Water Department, Cleveland Division of Water and an abbreviation as CWD (Cleveland Water Division).

I would suggest using CWD for display purposes.

Based on comm traffic I've identified the functions of the following three TG's and submitted them to the database

TG56187 CWD Dispatch (self explanatory)

TG56188 CWD Roll Call (Check in at shift change)

TG56189 CWD Turn Off SVC (Turn Off and final meter reading service)

One last note, TG56183 was temporarily used for dispatch during start up last Sunday (March 10th) evening and early Monday morning. Monday afternoon dispatch moved to TG56187, I haven't heard any additional traffic on TG56183 since Monday.

I believe all of Cleveland's Divisions are technically named .. " Cleveland Division of XX ", so abbreviated would be CDW ... but either way would be probably be OK, but we should abbreviate in the same format for all.
And Cleveland uses the phrase " Division " instead of " Department "

KW,

CWD (not CDW) is from Cleveland's website.

I agree with you, it's confusing. If you look back at my post you'll see that I reference the three different names for the Water department used on Cleveland's websites. But, CWD was the only abbreviation used. Since space is restricted for display on a scanner, I went with the posted abbreviation.

Regarding Department vs Division, here's the url for the Cleveland City Department website: City of Cleveland :: City Departments

FYI, when I posted the TG's for the Sewer Department, there was discussion about it's name. Technically Cleveland calls it Water Pollution Controls. Sewer is what everyone calls it (plus it's shorter), so that's what is in the RR database.

The various Cleveland websites flip flops between Divisions and Departments, feel free to tell Cleveland they got it wrong.

LOL ... Yeah you would think the people who do web pages would get it right or at least consistent !
Nice job capturing these TGs .. Sure wish safety would switch, not much of interest on Cleveland P25 right now !
