It should just update what you have.

Default 56407

It appears that 56407, Middleburg Hts. PD is encrypted. Have had numerous hits with the "busy tone" instead of voice.

Makes sense, since their dispatch and TAC TGs were encrypted on their previous system.

Correct on both. TG56287 is one of the Cleveland Water Department talk groups.

TG56287 is Brook Park Fire Ground 1.

My notes for 56182 ''Turn On Service", also 56184 as "Trouble Service".

Definitely all from 56168 through 56199 part of Cleveland Water. Looks like two pretty well defined 16 channel zones. Having affiliations and other brief activity across other unlisted talk groups in that range, not enough else to determine further tags or descriptions, but consider from Cleveland Water for sure. One on 56196 sounded like a couple units talking at a water treatment facility.

Any idea on the Cleveland Water secure users on talk groups 56172, 56173, possibly billing/collections activity if payment information is being relayed?

Also would recommend having these Cleveland Water talk groups moved out of the Public Works group in the data base, as water is part of Public Utilities and this block of users distinct enough to keep separate.

All from common blocks of Radio IDs and Dispatcher positions. Working to consolidate full findings for ID ranges and will add summary to the system wiki page.

1847xxx Cleveland Water - Sewer Units (~200 radios) [usually on Sewer 1/2]
1848xxx Cleveland Water - Secure Units (~300 radios) [usually on 56172, 56173]
1849xxx Cleveland Water - Service Units (~700 radios) [across all other talk groups]

Fortunately the group and radio ID structure used across this system is very consistent and well set up.

Consider at least everything else unlisted between 56050 and 56083 as part of Port Control for Cleveland Hopkins, Burke Lakefront, ARFF, another good block of at least two zones of channels.

1842xxx Port Control - Cleveland Hopkins Units (~400 radios)
1843xxx Port Control - Burke Lakefront Units (~30 radios)
1844xxx Port Control - ARFF Units (~100 radios)

And I'll submit these to the database for Cleveland Police (all have encryption, but it seems CPD users can and have turned it off at times, hearing some half encrypted conversions at times here on some of the other listed secure talk groups):

56140 CPD TAC1 Cleveland Police - 1st District Tactical
56141 CPD TAC2 Cleveland Police - 2nd District Tactical
56142 CPD TAC3 Cleveland Police - 3rd District Tactical
56143 CPD TAC4 Cleveland Police - 4th District Tactical
56144 CPD TAC5 Cleveland Police - 5th District Tactical

I had been seeing encrypted activity on that block of 5 talk groups from Unitrunker logs over the past few days, correlated to each block of district users, and suspected as back channels for the district tactical traffic. Finally listened to some routine CPD district activity long enough today to confirm users referring to and switching back to these TAC channels.

Unsure of zone placement or channel positions, maybe channels 11-15 if part of zone 1? Also looking like everything else unlisted in 56145 to 15163 makes up at least another full zone of additional channels for the more specialized and more often encrypted units.

Does anybody have a good unit ID reference for CPD? Was not seeing anything online, about all I know is the district cars (xAxx, etc) and traffic cars (72xx).

Ya, knew what you were meaning there. Will let all you locals flush out the remaining alpha tags and descriptions for those.

Also put summary of radio id ranges and console positions onto the system wiki page, folks can add and maintain as more details and less confirmed ranges are nailed down.

Greater Cleveland Radio Communications Network - The RadioReference Wiki

I just followed the format we had up for the NW Ohio system, it probably can get cleaned up for better presentation.

The radio IDs for fire and EMS were very consistent and easy to determine like I had recalled with the VSELP system. Have identified all the regular apparatus mobiles, portables and stations with ease.

Folks
  • Migrated Cleveland Water & Sewer to its own category, "Cleveland Department of Public Utilities"

    - includes Dept of Water, Water Pollution Control, and prehaps eventually Public Power
    - will likely change from 'Public Works' to 'Business'
    - did not add blocks of talkgroups based upon supposition alone

If anyone feels like chiming in, is this Cleveland Dept of Public Utilities a non-government [non-city/county] operated deal?

  • Added 56287 Brook Park Fireground 1
  • Added 46407 Middleburg Hts Police Dispatch (Enc)

    - this may change dependent upon further monitoring

  • Added 56500 Parma Heights Police Dispatch

    - this may change dependent upon further monitoring

  • CMHA - changed from Cleveland MHA to Cuyahoga MHA

    - did not add 56578 / 56580 -- will await further determination of use by listeners

Mike

Thanks for the clarification Ed. No change on the 'public works' status will be made.

It's interesting that radio communications is listed in that group - but as I recall the original VSLEP system was initially for the water dept which really covers the county and more. Here in Summit county we have Cleveland water.

Can you elaborate? What "old" system are you referring to?

I see the same, did you submit that update into the DB yet?
Looks like the DB also has CC wrong too.

Unfortunately, the one thing I don't like about Pro96Com (and I do love most everything about it), is the fact that it doesn't remove stale freqs. So some of those frequencies listed may not have been active for months or more. Then again, maybe everyone of them is active in the system. The problem is there is no telling. The only way to tell is to clear data and fire up a pristine copy and then let that copy run, unabated, for a few days to determine actual system frequencies in use.

I'm not doubting what you show there -- I'm just pointing out that there should be an indicator in there as to the last time a frequency was used. In Unitrunker, the first/last time that a frequency was used is stamped and shown in UT.

In Pro96Com, if there is the abilty to display the first/last times that a frequency was in use, I'm not aware of that option or setting.
