Bud,

Could you confirm that North Olmsted PD would be a separate entity from Olmsted Falls / Twp? Since I'm not from that area, I have no clue.

I'm thinking a new category needs added in the DB for North Olmsted itself, for this and other talkgroups to fit into. Yes?

Mike,

I would hold off on doing a post at this time. Monitored just four or five transmissions in the last hour. The last two had radio id's of 1874xxx and gave locations located in Olmsted Falls.

So far I've monitored traffic with id's of 1873xxx and 1874xxx, all PD. This looks like the pattern that Olmsted Falls and Olmsted Township Fire used went they went live, on their shared TG.

They are geographically close but politically seperate. The FDs are on different systems, GCRCN and MARCS IP.

I wonder how this will effect talkgroups and such for the radio system, since Strongsville is encrypted
Quote:
North Royalton Police Department
*****PRESS RELEASE*****

Please not that as a result of our dispatch center consolidation with the City of Strongsville, there will be two new procedures in the handling of incoming calls. The traditional emergency phone numbers such as (440) 237-8686 thru (440 237-8689 will be routed to the dispatch center in Strongsville. North Royalton Police Department and North Royalton Fire Department will be dispatched as always or as needed. Emergency 911 phone numbers will follow in the same manner. There will be no disruption in your service or in the response of the police and/or fire/paramedic services at any time. In summary, North Royalton primary dispatch will be moved to Strongsville.

North Royalton Police Department will maintain a 24/7 answering service center for non-emergency public use. This should be noted as the second new procedure, a reception office that will retained in our city. The phone numbers made available for calls to the local service center will be (440) 582-6216 thru (440) 582-6219. A staff will be maintained daily to assist callers with general city business, including records requests, police reports and complaints, police personnel, and information regarding jail operations. The Clerk's Office and Record's Office at the station will remain unchanged.

These new procedures will take affect beginning March 22, 2014, Saturday.

Again, please note these changes and new services;

*North Royalton Dispatch Primary moved to Strongsville
(440) 237-8686
(440) 237-8687
(440) 237-8688
(440) 237-8689
All 911 Emergency Service Calls

*North Royalton 24/7 Service Center
(440) 582-6216
(440) 582-6217
(440) 582-6218
(440) 582-6219

Chief John Elek
Additional Notes:

Quote:
Strongsville will be dispatching for both cities. They have increased their dispatch staffing (hiring 4 of our 8 full time dispatchers). Response times should not be affected at all. The reason for the merger is funding. There is a State bill that Counties will only be funded for four PSAPs (public safety answering points), basically 911 systems, beginning in 2016. Unless cities can afford to purchase and maintain systems on their own, without funding, they will be forced to merge. Currently Cuyahoga County has over 40 PSAPs.

As far as I know, the RTA PD is still on the MARCS (Moto Type II) system. Their TG is 21632.

At some point in the near future they, like everyone else on the MARCS (Moto Type II) system, will have to decide if they will move to MARCS-IP or a local system like GCRCN.

Default TG-56152

Its been awhile since I've done any searching on this system but I did get hits on TG 56152. Sounds like CPD-9. but on TG 56152 Doing warrant checks. Don't see it in the DB so just an FYI.

Default MARCS-IP UPGRADE

On April 15th 2014 from midnight to 6 in the morning there will be a MARCS upgrade taking place. I am not aware of what specific changes but was told it had to do with new sites coming online or zone controllers being upgraded in the area. But during the upgrade some of the system will be associating with only local tower sites to what agencies are nearest too until its complete.
