Default OSP Post 3/Post 70 Patched

Hi Everyone,

I had the pleasure of getting home to visit family for Thanksgiving. My family lives in Ashland County. While monitoring the Highway Patrol during our visit I discovered that Post 3 (Ashland) and Post 70 (Mansfield) were both using the Post 70 primary talkgroup (ID 16384). I copied this traffic while monitoring the MARCS site in Ashland City. How I discovered this was I noted that Post 3 was very quiet so I changed the bank setting on my Pro-96 to "open mode" and heard Post 3 and Post 70 traffic on the talkgroup listed above.

I heard a trooper work a short pursuit with a spinout/accident in Northern Ashland Co. and a supervisor from Mansfield was dispatched to the scene because there was not a supervisor working out of Post 3 - This was radio traffic I heard between the dispatcher and troopers.

I wonder if the use of Post 70's talkgroup Thanksgiving night was a result of not having a supervisor working at Post 3 or is this becoming commonplace?

What really surprised me about this is that Post 70 is in District 2 and Post 3 is in District 3. Ashland and Wayne or Medina Counties would of made more sense to me but?

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

I've noticed sometimes if the dispatcher is on break and or @ lunch they switch traffic over to another post.

Its probably not "patched" all the officers have to do is switch the talkgroup on the radio.

MARCS is pretty fun to listen to.
