I see that Summit County has filed a license application with the FCC, to erect a 700 MHz, Project 25 TRS. Does Summit County plan on joining MARCS, or do they have plans to construct a stand-alone TRS? More information is available on the FCC Web site:

That is all part of the Ohio STATEWIDE COMMUNICATIONS
INTEROPERABILITY PLAN
which will add 700 MHz. frequencies along with MARCS for interoperability with the nationwide 700 MHz. system.

Actually this has nothing to do with the nationwide system being built out by FirstNet, which will use D Block frequencies for data purposes. Ohio may or may not build out separately using the D Block and connect that to the nationwide system.

Presumably Summit County will eventually connect this to MARCS-IP for interoperability purposes, but like others, they're using 700 MHz to start the migration to P25 without affecting their existing system.

Update: It's also important to note that the SCIP in the above link is four years old; plans have changed quite a bit that time to reflect current realities.

Could this possibly have something to do with the P25 system Barberton and New Franklin plan on building? I know they eventually plan to tie it in with the current Summit system once it has switched to P25.

Also, does anyone know when the rebanding will take effect for this system? The county EMA website hasn't updated their minutes publication in quite some time. January 1st isn't too far away.

January first is the deadline for narrowbanding not rebanding. I don't believe rebanding has a deadline as it has been delayed for many years.
