My sources at the city says they will not switch to MARCS for now as too much is invested into the EDACS system for now, When a major upgrade is due or Harris no longer provides support on the something, that would be the time to look into switching.

As far as the twp. fire I thought it was a waste to spend money on narrowbanding but pressure was on with the FCC and the timing was off. The funding will be interesting.

I was wondering about that, thanks for clarifying Tom.

My latest info indicates that service for EDACS systems will be available until 2017. Software and firmware upgrades are NLA, or soon will be.

Especially that $20/month per radio fee; most volunteer departments won't be able to afford that kind of money.

Default clock numbers

been hearing some odd new numbers as deputies call twelve hundred so I asked someone who would know and was told they have switched to clock numbers I believe. I was just getting used to hearing the numbers and picturing the deputy by say 72 , now to learn all new numbers again.
As for reception still near south Vienna reception is spotty with an inside antenna albeit somwhat better since I moved it a few inches. You can see the signal meter go up and down, and Madison control is non exis. have noticed some dispatches headsets allow crystal clear transmissions other are garbled or muffled as if they are holding a hand over their mouth.
Is 3932 still a park ranger as Ive not heard him on CCSO MARCS lately or since they switched over.
Bummer about teh city going to MARCS, but with the attitude they have probably all traffic would have been ecrypted or will be.

The Clark SO is now using their badge numbers as unit numbers. 3932 is still the park ranger and is heard on the mutual aid channel on occasion. There was some type of problem with either one of the headsets or consoles that caused distortion in their audio. Seems to be fixed as of today.

Nice few minutes w Sheriff Kelly and NewsCenter 7, and a quick blurb that Radio Reference broadcasts Clark SO,on tonite at 6 pm news cast. Showed dispatch, towers RD Holder fire and how he enjoys having a thousand eyes able to report things. Good to know that he doesnt have a problem with people listening to open communications.

I missed the news tonight. Did Sheriff Kelly have anything to say about the new radio system?

Default ccso marcs

showed a portable with synthesized voice and how they had used MARCS during RD Holder, fire, something I was not aware of. How well it worked there and how he appeciates 1000 extra eyes and ears and mentioned PSafety brodcasts can be heard on RadioRef..I had a lot of extra listeners last night after news so people got on after they showed Clark County Sheriff!! he said he encourages people listening
They showed disptach, denise and I think Vanessa, actual speed of vehicle, deputy, his location and a screen showing calls . Mentioned cost how long its been in progress. Mentioned there are some dead spoys and service will be getting better with more power. any kinks to be worked out in text few months. overall good article

Thank you! I am very happy that MARCS is working out so well for the SO. They sure had to deal with an inadequate system for many years. I am sure that the bugs will be worked out in time. New Carlisle seems to be one of the biggest problem areas and it doesn't seem adding the Troy Tower has helped that much. I was told a tower is to be built at Wright State and that should help. Also glad to hear that Sheriff Kelly is supportive of the streams on Radio Reference.

Default clark county new system

I can confirm that signal strength in New Carlisle is fairly weak. While out and about the other day, I had full strength (5 bars) on my scanner in Miami County. Once back in New Carlisle, signal strength dropped from 5 bars down to 2.
