Parma Fire 860.9375

Brooklyn Hts Fire New from the FCC Data Base 854.7875

i'm going to try and Monitor them to see if their Digital or Analog

Monitoring today:

Parma Fire 860.9375...my scanner shows P25:018 That would be P25 System 018, which is Parma's P25 system # id. It's a continuous signal. I had to lock it out to scan the new 854.78750 freq.

Brooklyn Hts Fire New 854.78750... Mostly no signal, then occasionally the squelch breaks, lots of static. The signal goes from no bars to 4 bars, then drops. Twice now I've heard very faint Morse Code in the background (station id?). It sounds like a distant analog signal rolling in and out. If that's the case, it could be an issue for Parma. 4 out of 5 bars is pretty strong for interference.

Looks like an error for the Brooklyn Hts location, showing MO for the building. It should be FB2.

860.9375 P25 single channel trunk?

I mentioned in an earlier post that I had to lock out 860.9375 setup as a conventional frequency. 860.9375 is now transmitting continuously. So I created a P25 trunk system (Parma P25 860) with one freq, 860.9375 and did a Pro96com scan.

Here's what Pro96com reported.
Parma Fire 860 (labeled in my scanner)
Site: 202 (T0202)

So far it's showing as a single freq 860.9375 as a Control Channel. Note: I haven't monitored any transmissions on it yet. The site is listed as 202.
FYI: I removed the antenna from my scanner, the signal I'm receiving is coming from the Brooklyn Hts. location. Solid 5 bar signal strength on my scanner.
For reference my scanner (with no antenna) shows no bars for the Parma P25 System listed in the RR database.

Here's the Pro96com info for the original Parma P25 System in the RR database.
Parma P25 (as labeled in my scanner)
Site: 101 (T0101)

860.93750 active

My scanner caught two Parma Fire calls on 860.93750. TG289 (Fire Dispatch) radio id's 1801447 and 1801411.

The first call (around 5:50 P.M.) was for a gas leak on Tuxedo Ave.

On the second call (roughly 6:05 P.M.) I was away from the scanner and missed the traffic. But when I came back, I did see the display on my scanner showing TG289 and radio id 1801411.

I'm going to run Pro96com against the Parma P25 system to see if 860.93750 has been added as a control/voice/data freq.

The only traffic heard was fire on 860.93750.

Parma P25 - Two Site System?

I've been monitoring Parma's recent STA license:

WQTJ911 (STA Expires 8/19/2014)
860.93750
4800 BRUENING DR, PARMA
4501 W PLEASANT VALLEY RD, PARMA
345 TUXEDO AVE, BROOKLYN HEIGHTS

Pro96com shows it as Site 2 for the Parma P25 system.

System ID 018
Tower ID/Site 202 (T0202)
WACN 00001
Capabilities Voice,Registration
Tower Status Connected

So far only very limited traffic (Fire only) , which seems to be located in the North Eastern part of Parma (near Brooklyn Heights). The only frequency reported 860.93750 is used for both Control and Voice traffic.

Since this setup is running under an STA, does it warrant being added to the RR Database as Site 2?

They already have a license for that freq in Warrensville Hts - WPPY843.

Looks like they are testing for the possibilty of adding a northern site for the P25 system.

The fire dept. stuff you are hearing on this - is it simulcast on the regular P25 system TGs?

The transmissions on Site 2 that I've heard have all been on TG289 the Fire Dispatch. I can't tell you for sure if they are being simultaneously transmitted on both Site 1 and Site 2. I have one Digital Scanner, where it stops is what I hear.

I do know that all of the Fire Dispatch (TG289) that I've heard starts on Site 1. Then the traffic (on my scanner) at some point moves to Site 2 if the scene is near Brooklyn Hts. (north east corner of Parma).

So far I've only heard Fire (mostly EMS/Medic) calls. No PD monitored on Site 2 at this time.

Regarding the Warrensville location, I've heard conflicting reports about that site. Some have said Parma doesn't use it any more, others have said it's still active.

So like how are you doing this? Add a seperate site with just that channel? I suspect the Warrensville site is not active since I hear that area very well and can't hear anything on that channel, but I doubt I can hear anything off Tuxedo either.

Ed,

Yes, I just added a new Trunk System, set it as P25 Auto, entered the control channel 860.93750 and created Group and Private Wild Cards.

By setting each site as a separate system I can put them in their own scan lists which makes them easier to monitor and control.

According to the STA license 860.93750 is allowed to be used on Parma's two existing towers plus the (new) Brooklyn Hts. site. Since you can monitor Parma P25 Site 1 coming from the two Parma towers. But you aren't receiving 860.93750. I'm wondering if 860.93750 is being transmitted from the two Parma towers.

I'll have to make time to do a field trip to the two Parma towers with my scanner and see if 860.93750 is active on them.

854.78750 now CC on Site 2

Pro96com is currently showing 854.78750 as the Control Channel for Parma P25 Site 2. So there appears to be at least two frequency's assigned to Site 2, 860.93750 and 854.78750.

I am monitoring Site 2 from the Brooklyn Hts. location.

Is the County Library still using a EACH SCAT frequency out east? Did they go digital? Also if Parma and Ottawa are linked together; what is the purpose of the link if you cannot hear Ottawa County over here?

Ottawa and Parma are two separate Sites that share a P25 Core.

Why is Ottawa using Parma's Core? Because it's cost effective. One Core can handle many Sites. Installing a complete P25 system is an expensive under taking. Which is made up of a large number of components. By sharing the Core, Ottawa doesn't have to purchase their own and (in theory) Parma reduces it's overall costs by sharing the Core costs.

Bud, thanks for the information. Does anybody have a clue as to what is going on with the EDACS SCAT site? Was thsi merged into the P25 TRS? I think that the SCAT site was by I-271.
