Montgomery County

I'm visiting Montgomery County and listening to the fire channels, but I haven't figured out how they are used. Sometimes it seems as though the dispatchs are done through the county channel and sometimes it seems as though they are going through the individual station dispatchs. What is really happening?

It depends on what FD it is. Some are Dayton system, some are county, Brookville disp (VHF), Northmont Center, etc. What department are you trying to hear?

The county does not dispatch for every fire department, many dispatch themselves.

I wasn't trying to listen to any particular department...I was more interested in what the dispatch procedure was...just knowing that the county doesn't dispatch them all (which is what I seemed to be discovering as I monitored) is all the verification I need....thanks for the reply.
