Anyone know of any Federal Frequencies for Northeast Ohio
(Akron-Ravenna area)? I saw a unmarked white crown Victoria drive by
with what looked like a 800 mhz antenna on the trunk does anyone have
any frequencies for federal in this area?

Sure. Just search 162-174 MHz on 12.5 KHz steps, and the same for 406-420 MHz. (less used, but it is active for some agencies).

You'll pretty much have to have a digital capable scanner, as the feds are largely converting over to P25, and in many areas, are almost always encrypted as well.

You can look up the old lists of frequencies in use by various agencies, as a starting point, but understand that the feds recently (over the last 5 years or so) underwent a TOTAL rebanding of their operations, and are still at it, as they shift to 'narrowband'. Some old channels are in use, some aren't, some are used by someone else now.

Also, many feds have gone to using nextel or similar commercial cell-phone and dispatch service cellular for 'routine' traffic, so traffic on the 'real' federal channels may be quite a bit less than it used to be.

Yeah everyone is switching to those darn nextels it sucks we can't listen in because it is illegal and not to mention it is unscannable.I have a digital scanner i have a pro-96.Maybe i'll hear something you never know. But thanks Skip!
