Hello all.

I am moving to Loveland in a couple months. I have been doing some research on area frequencies and talkgroups and notice that Loveland PD and Loveland-Symmes FD have frequencies and talkgroups all over the place.

I see
460.4125 repeater - Loveland PD
155.715 repeater - is this city services?
154.445 repeater - Loveland Symmes FD

Hamilton County TRS talkgroup 253 - Loveland Police

Clermont County TRS talkgroups:
40016 NE Police Dispatch
40048 NE Police Tac
40080 NE Fire Dispatch
40112 Loveland-Symmes FD

Is there any rhyme or reason to what is used and when?

It would have been a better idea to form a new thread instead of responding to mine with a new question.

A 20 channel racing scanner won't help you too much.

Cincinnati Police/Fire, Hamilton County Police/Fire, and most State of Ohio operations are all digital 800 MHz. Something that scanner you have can't pick up. On your scanner, it will just sound like white noise.

You will however be able to pick up anything non-digital. Go to the radio reference database, then ohio, then hamilton county. Any frequencies you see listed that are non-digital you can enter in your scanner and monitor.

Most of this will be in the 33MHz, 150-160 MHz, and 450-470 MHz bands.

For example, Hamilton County Fire simulcasts dispatch on 33.900, which is a frequency you should be able to monitor.

That's 806-956 MHz in analog, not digital.

You need a digital scanner to monitor the 800 MHz systems in the Cincinnati area.

Such as a Uniden 396 or 796, or a GRE PSR500 or PSR600.

Just resell it and go after one that works in digital. They are a lot more expensive though. On ebay, they start around 200 bucks and go up quick from there for a used one. New is 499.99 in most cases.

With the scanner you have now there is a handful of stuff you can still monitor, just not much.

Where exactly do you live in the county?

Yea Norwood is all digital now.

The busiest regular analog channels in your area would be:
33.90 Hamilton County Fire Dispatch
462.950 UC Alliance Transport
462.975 UC Aircare
154.935 Ohio LEERN (Emergency Broadcasts)

Loveland-Symmes actually covers area in 3 counties. Warren,Clermont, and Hamilton. That is why you probaly see all the different frequencies and talkgroups. I think they have their own dispatch on VHF and then use whatever system they are responding with .....

Have you decided what feed you may want to provide when you move ? I have some thoughts if you are interested ......

155.7150 is the City Service Department using a DPL of 114.
154.4450 is FD Dispatch.

Also 156.120/159.000 136.5 PL is Loveland Public Works.

Jason,

Yea i was thinking it was something along those lines. Just seems like a communications nightmare to have VHF, UHF, and 2 different TRS's in use for one locality.

I will get with you off the forum here about the feed, I think I still have your email.

Loveland is dispatched out of what we call Northeast Communications. The following is a little bit of info about it...
