Default Tulsa

I live in okc if I had Tulsa County programmed into my scanner would I be able to hear them or am I out of range?
I have a BC346XL Uniden I have been listening to Tulsa a lot lately on the computer.
There seems to be a lot of interesting action in Tulsa

A typical scanner can pick up transmissions as far as 20-30 miles. If your at a higher elevation it may even be further. Being in the Midwest is pretty much flat. If there are a lot of high rises in the area then it will greatly diminish reception.

I do not think if you are in OKC you will be able to listen to TPD 25mi range KNJH431. As I live in Tulsa and even have some problems with reception, especially in drop areas

You don't know until you try. Enter the control channels and see if you can hear the data stream.

Right. I'm always puzzled why people ask these questions here when they can try it in one minute or less.

How do I try it when I don't know how to program? Should I send my scanner off to scanner master and pay them $70 to program in Tulsa county? And then it can't be heard from OKC?

What brand of radio do you have, search for a manual online and then you can figure out how to program it.

The obvious thing to ask would be how to program Tulsa's control channel.
And you might want to add some other stations sometime.

Just curious, if you have the 4 OKC channels programmed in, you're also set for Tulsa. They use the same 4 control channel freqs, though probably not the same one that is currently being used in OKC.

When I learn how to program I will try to put the Tulsa freqs in. I'm afraid I will erase what I have if I make a mistake! Thanks for the answer Hogdriver!

You clearly have a computer, so go get FreeSCAN.

If you can spare $15, get a 6-mo subscription to RR and then you can import system directly from the web to your scanner.

Paul. All you need to do is add the Tulsa talkgroups to what you already have, that's all. You already have the control channels if you all four OKC channels in as they are the same. I can tell you you won't pick up anything unless a Tulsa officer drives to OKC as the system will follow him wherever he goes!

Just to be clear - Freescan doesn't require an RR subscription. Having one just makes it go from super easy to set up your BC346XT to extremely easy.
