Talking Icom IC-F4TR UHF Radio - Whoo Hoo!

Get your Icom IC-F4TR while it's hot! OK, it's not hot hot, but it's brand spankin' new!

It receives and transmits radio signals on frequencies from 450 MHz thru 490 MHz. Yeah baby! This radio does it with frequency!

It's just like police and janitors use!

Powerful output power of 4 watts is strong enough to hit distant repeaters without frying your eyeballs.

This auction includes:

- Radio transceiver
- 1050 mAh NiCd battery
- FA-SC56U antenna
- Instruction manual
- Two year warranty

Two year warranty? "Whoa! Are you crazy? A new radio for sale on this poser bulletin board with a warranty?" Yep! That's right. A properly dated receipt from an authorized Icom dealer will be included (Texas residents might have to pay sales tax).

In addition to conventional FM communications, this radio can be used on LTR and PassPort trunked radio systems. That's right, nothing else to buy. Trunking features are built-in.

"You may find that wanting is more pleasurable than having. It's not logical, but it is often so." - Mr. Spock

Look at the picture. This radio has a keypad. I have another IC-F4TR for sale that is exactly like this one, except that it doesn't have a keypad. What do you use a keypad for anyway? Phone patch I guess. Besides, the keypad version has lots more buttons and we all know that the more buttons on the radio, the better it is.

Here are the FAQ (Freaking Annoying Questions)

Q. How do I program the radio?
A. You must have PC software and an interface cable. These items can be ordered and takes an additional two-weeks for shipping. The software is $80 and the interface cable is $40.

Q. Can you ship this to Timbuktu?
A. Only if Timbuktu is located in the United States of America and UPS will go there.

Q. What frequencies does this radio cover?
A. 450 thru 490 MHz.

Q. Can you ship this to Czechoslovakia?
A. Only if Czechoslovakia is located in the United States of America and UPS will go there.

Q. I see that I need software and an interface cable to program this radio. Is there anything else that I need?
A. Yes. A battery charger. This radio doesn't include a charger. I guess Icom thinks it's buyers are gonna buy lots of radios and use the chargers that work with up 8 radios at a time. A simple charger sells for $40. There are 3 or 4 other chargers that work with this radio.

Q. How much?
A. $199.99. Yep, that's less than 200 greenbacks. Oh but wait, UPS Ground shipping is $15. It used to be cheaper, but their fuel surcharge went up September 5th.

Q. I want it. How do I pay?
A. I prefer PayPal, but email me if you want to discuss another method of payment.

Email me if you want more detailed photographs or if you have any other freaking annoying questions.

Less than $200 bucks... Is that too much? I don't know what the "retail" price of this radio is, but I've never seen it selling for less than $389.99 elsewhere. It's not a scanner, so perhaps I have it listed for sale in the wrong place.

Perhaps the poor humor in my writing is really much worse than I'd imagined!

Let me know what you think this radio is worth, and why.

Question Owners Manual

Can you post a link to the owners manual or post it online?

I'm interested in its specifications.

It should probably be mentioned that these radios require a license!

There is complete specs, and some related downloads here:

Looks like a good deal!

The manual can be downloaded at http://www.icomamerica.com/downloads/manuals.asp .

Often you don't need a special license. For most business or public service radio systems, you simply need permission from the license holder of the repeater or trunked system that you are using.

I have no use for the radio, but I did laugh throughout the ad's descriptions!
