I thought you had to have a license for monitoring UK. I do know they license the tele.

Canada is not in the UK. No license is required for a scanner in Canada.

What does it have to do with helping him anyways?

What is the problem that you are seeing? Unfortunately there aren't many of those units around here yet so you might have to be the guinea pig haha. I was under the impression that you could enter your postal code and it should just give you a list of systems in the area. Are you not seeing this?

Yup, enter your postal code and away it scans.

You can also enter your city once the postal code has been entered.

Pretty much idiot proof.

I've got one and had it scanning in 30 seconds.

It's possible that some of the systems he is scanning haven't been geo-tagged yet. If so, best bet is to geotag but in the meantime turn off the location settings.

Hi.

Hi Mike.

Sorry to bother you. Ive tried the Canada-Postal Code method but it says there are no channels in the database for my postal code. So I tried by range and I pressed the + key to increase the range all the way and when I press accept it loads in stuff from Michigan and Ontario. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks Sheldon.

Have you updated the database and downloaded it to the unit? Latest database was released this morning.

Have you updated the firmware?

What's your Postal Code? I'll give it a try.

Hi.

Yes I always go through the update process when I load the Sentinal software. My postal Code is N6E 3C3. is that how I enter it into the HP?

Sheldon.

Yup, I entered it into mine and got about 700 channels selected.

Are you writing the database into the HomePatrol?

Hi.

Hi Mike.

When I try to use Write to the HP a box comes up titled HomePatrol Sentinel:preset and a box within that titled HomePatrol microSD and nothing is listed within that box..

There is no location info for many Ontario systems. I'm in Waterloo & the only close system it sees is Peel. How do I turn off location settings?

Are you guys sure you've updated your HomePatrol database?? Every location in Ontario should be geotagged now despite what 69stiles says.

On the HomePatrol, click Menu, Advanced Menu and Version Information. My database shows 10/10/2010.

Setting my location to Kitchener with a range of 20 miles, I get about 1200 frequencies.

If you don't have the latest database, try this:

Using Sentinel, Click on Update and then click on Update Master HPDB.

If you're up to date, it will tell you so. If not, it will download the updated database.

Once that's done, click on Home Patrol and then Write to Home Patrol.

It will then read some information from your Home Patrol and I believe at that point you click on OK and you should see it update your HomePatrol.

Hi.

The version information on my HomePatrol says:

Firmware Version 1.01

Database Version 07/02/2010

Help Version 07/14/2010

ESN: 36326004001187

Something tells me that the updating isnt working?

Sheldon.

Yup, you've got old firmware and an extremely old database.

You might want to post in the Uniden forum or on the HomePatrol website. Somebody can probably walk you through the update procedures.
