903Hz is definitely proving to be P31/P41 combined calls. I was just browsing a list of Motorola pager tones and the Reed Group 5 set (below) is what Milton FD is using in various combinations, so my "rounding" to 903 or 855 etc is quite accurate for a sound card decoder.

553.9
584.8
617.4
651.9
688.3
726.8
767.4
810.2
855.5
903.2

Thanks Bob. I think P31/P41 combo is the only one that has changed. I wonder why. The one continuous tone has so far only been used to page the stations and not the trucks,

Looks like P31/P41 combo are back to being paged with two tones but it is different from the one listed before. Not sure what it is though or what is going on....

I captured and reviewed everything for the last 5 days and can confirm that the posted data is correct with the exception of the Pumper 31/41 combined page having to changed to a single 903.2 Hz tone-out as first posted here by Pokey. The station and multi-station tones are unchanged as are the individual multi tone-outs for the two full-time trucks.

Do you want to submit the database updated Pokey?

Cheers!

Bob

FYI I'm also working on a Halton Hills Fire pager tone list but it's a bit of a convoluted mess so far. They have a lot of variations of tone-outs for various full time and part time staff. More to follow.,..

Just when I thought this was a done deal, P31/P41 was back to the old 2-tone page today for a vehicle fire on the 401 west of town. Paged out with 688/652 2-tone set, which was what I had prior to the single 903 tone.

Arrrrgh!!

Thanks for doing that Bob! Yes I hear both the single tone and the two-tone for P31/P41. My guess is that if they are both in the same hall they do the single tone (which so far seems to only be used for station paging) and when they are both at their own halls they page using the two-tone. I have seen both trucks respond from station 3 before.

Pokey - I think I may have just heard the previously unseen tone combination you originally wrote about. At the regular 8:10AM checks this morning I heard (and recorded/decoded) a two-tone test followed with "XJF 647 Milton Fire Department Pumper 41 pager test, 1 2 3 4 5, 5 4 3 2 1, 8:14", then the same sequence repeated a second time, EXCEPT:

The first tone combination was 727/1251Hz. According to what I'm looking at online, that would be 1 tone from the Reed Group one and 1 tone from Reed Group two. I've never seen a cross-group two-tone page from MFD or HHFD before. The second P41 test followed the first using the regular P41 tones. Both tone-outs were preceded by the "Pumper 41 pager test......" announcement with virtually no delay between the two.

The P31 tests which were done prior to this stuff were totally routine.

Did he hit the wrong tone-out button, or is this something new? Only time will tell. I've recorded the morning tests for the last 10 days now and this is a first for me, so it's not like it's happening daily. P41 was at station 4 as they did respond to the "Station 4 base paging, how do you receive?" request.

Interesting on the new tone Bob. I will have to see if my Minitor pager will take that combo and I will monitor to see if it alerts.

It accepted the tone but I don't know what the heck that will be for.

The pattern for a single tone-out for P31/P41 versus a two-tone page seems to be this:

If just P31/P41 are doing the call they're using the 2-tone page, but when a station is being paged along with P31/P41, the sequence always starts with the single 903 Hz tone for the pumpers, followed by the single tone page for whatever station is responding with the front line trucks.

I've logged that sequence 3 or 4 times this weekend.
