I haven't heard of any plans for anyone to use MDTs. Were you trying pocsag? I heard nothing last night using both digital and conventional but any testing wouldn't be at night. I will hook up to 166.965 see if the software sees anything maybe I'm looking for the pages on the wrong frequency. Testing has got to be happening the switch is right around the corner.

Has anyone checked 166.6950 with DSD+ to see that the signal is indeed P25, and not MotoTRBO/NXDN etc?

Have done, nothing decodes. DMRDdecode does not decode anything. It does not sound like POCSAG or ay other kind of
paging, and is continuous.

I'm hearing the same digital noise when programming the frequency as conventional. Pretty much constant this morning. I'm not really clear how to use FreeScan to program those frequencies in P25 mode for my 996T. Any tips?

Brad.

Well I was listening to the new Leeds channel on a fire radio last night and heard all kinds of chatter, then went to my scanner to listen and heard nothing but digital burst, my scanner was picking it up before,so don't go and buy that scanner yet!!!

The digital noise on 166.965 seems to be on by day, off by night. Last night
when it was off, I heard some P25 clear voice ("test, test etc.), some tones
(which the PSR600 renders rather horribly but that is the scanner's shortcoming),
so no reason not to expect to continue to hear things.

My comment on "enc" should not be taken too seriously, unless someone
else were to confirm it, as poor signal sometimes causes this effect which
sounds like enc voice (on this scanner).

Was working on my HP also a couple months ago.

Not sure if its related but starting about same time my one feed is junk during the day. Digital noise and its coming in on various frequencies. This on my pro-2040. I hooked up the HP1 same thing various channels.
Also had an untapped bc-355c pick up pocsag garbage on 166.965 today.

Did you happen to note the make and model of the "fire radio" you successfully heard the chatter on?
It might help some of the experts on this group to determine what digital mode is in use.

If you want to hear the noise, its right here Kingston Area Fire

I added the new channels to the feed last night. Guess that was a mistake. I wonder if this is just testing of some sort being its only during the day.

Same thing happening on the Grenville Channel right now 164.325. Heard normal voice traffic testing last night no problem, decoded as p25.

What seems to be happening is they're alternating the "control channel" between the two frequencies. One is CC, the other voice. Yesterday, .965 was CC and I was getting P25 voice on .325. Today's it's the opposite. I'm getting all this off the Millers Corners tower (because at one point the tech said so, and it's close to me). Scanner shows P25 when they're talking (which isn't often). I also occasionally get short data bursts on the "voice" channel. They're testing emergency buttons today, which might explain that.

Makes sense as to what I'm hearing. Though odd that Unitrunker can't pickup the CC info.

I have noticed the CC noise is now on an old L&G tac channel 154.340. I have also noticed the HP is picking up the CC on 164.325 but the 996xt does not.

Default Leeds and Grenville county fire

Are you sure it's a control channel and not a repeater idling with a test?
