Province of Ontario Fleetnet system.....questions..

I have just started monitoring The Province of Ontario Fleetnet system here in mississauga, and I am using the Britannia Fleetnet Tower I believe for my reception......I notice there is ALOT to choose from in terms of talkgroups.......I am pulling signals from all over, niagara, guelph, oshawa etc.......

What kind of reception do people usually get for Ontario fleetnet....

I am using my VHF air antenna that I have on the roof of my apartment for reception...................So far I am at a solid 5 bars on all channels......

Also, what is worth listening to?

And on a sidenote....just started listening to Fallsview Casino here as well...LTR system.....kinda neat to hear where all the jackpots are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another question as well....I have been focusing on the OPP but it seems to stop on control channels with garbled data for a few seconds, then continues scanning..I have yet to hear any comms on OPP. Are they not monitorable or am I doing something wrong?

Are you listening with a digital scanner cause an anlog one is no good for OPP

And what scanner are you using?
Have you set up the custom table for the system using the 3 stepups. Lower / upper base..offset..& steps??

Ok, I feel silly now.....no I am using a BCT 15X....I guess everything on fleetnet is analog except OPP..

There are a lot of agencies using digital on Fleetnet besides the OPP. MTO Enforcement and MNR Conservation Officers to name just a few.

Anything with a D in the Mode column is digital.

if you want to use that scanner to listen to opp use the repeater freqs which is analog by the way the only problem with it is that opp needs to have a car near you with the repeater turned on but you will still get them from time to time

On the Guelph tower which control channel are you seeing, if its 143.1 its Woodlawn and you can hear Cambridge CACC, North and South. Niagara: You can hear all the Niagara action in their CACC, put in all those talkgroups.

You don't want to use the actual Guelph site as it will only carry City of Guelph stuff.
