I listen to the Kitchener Waterloo area police on my pro 2006 scanner from the London area. I have 11 frequencies all in the 868 MHZ range and I have no problems picking them up. Today I was doing a google search for the 900 codes when I found a site that not only gave me the 900 codes but it also has a live feed. While listening to the live feed ( doesn't show the frequencies ) I realized that I was not hearing the same conversation that I was listening to on my radio, so I thought there must be frequencies that I am missing.
I look up radioreference for the KW area and copy down all the Fire Police and EMS frequencies and put them all on my radio, but I hear nothing from them, at the same time the live feed is broadcasting and I am not picking up those frequencies either, but I am hearing the KW area on the frequencies that I found while doing a search in the 866 to 869 Mhz range along time ago.
So now I am confused, what is it that we are all listening to? I know I am listening to the KWPD as I recognize the streets they mention, and the live feed also mentioned a call in the Cambridge area. So what are the frequencies listed on the RR database? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Waterloo Region Trunking System, Waterloo Region, Ontario - Scanner Frequencies

Make sure you're using those frequencies and you'll hear everything.

You probably programmed in conventional channels for rural fire dispatch and such.

This is the sort of question that I would expect someone to ask in 2003, not 2013.
Are you seriously saying that you could not find the database for your area?

Each county (region in your case) is listed with all the frequencies that you monitor.
Its right there in the tabs.

It will also show that the frequencies that you are listening to are part of a trunked system, the one that the entire region uses save EMS for radio communications.

Maybe the audio feed you are hearing is on a bit of a delay.

Thanks Excalibur that is what I was looking for, but when I click on Wellington County in the database what you posted is not what I see? Don't know what I am doing wrong, but hey what you posted works for me.

In 2003 I wasn't listening to Waterloo Kitchener, I didn't start listening to them until recently as it seems the weather condition or the atmospheric condition have to favour long distance monitoring. So with that said I my listening to KW was sporadic I just happend to put them on over the holiday's and I heard them it has been awhile like back in the summer since I last listened. Also I am in London, so it is not actually my area. I never thought about a time delay, I will have to check that out, thank for the help guys.

KW is in Waterloo Region not Wellington Co. Wellington Co is where Guelph is located.

You are trying to listen to a trunked system. The Pro 2006 does not do trunking of any sort, only individual frequencies.

First off, I think the audio link that I was listening to is on a time delay so thank EJB for mentioning that, I just wouldn't have thought of it. I know that I should have a trunking radio, to listen to the PD but for the amount of time that I am able to receive transmissions from that area, my old 2006 will have to do, they could be gone tomorrow. Lastly to Exkalibur when I click on Waterloo, I don't see what the link that you posted shows? Anyways thanks all for your help, I have all frequencies on the radio now and a few were taken off, I am happy now .

You will never be able to follow the system thru without having a trunking scanner. If you did you could hold on a talkgroup and follow the conversation as on a trunk system there are several voice channels. Delay or not, you might as well listen to the audio feeds since you are running an ancient scanner.

Can I ask what do you listen to in London? Police arent scannable, the EMS are on fleetnet, fire is on a trunked system.

Outside of EMS pagers and a few OPP repeater frequencies, air and hams (zzz) ...

Even if many of the municipalities are switching to trbo or enc systems there is still a good deal of in the clear analogue and P25 that you could scan with a trunking scanner. Take a look at the DB and the counties near you.

The URL you posted worked great, but if I go into the data base and click on Canada/Ontario. and select Waterloo or Wellington county, I don't see what I see when I search the url you gave me? As for what I listen to on London, I listen to St. Thomas and Aylmer PD, I have the repeaters on for OPP and MOH, sometimes the OPP come on for awhile rare, but it happens. I do a lot of military monitoring.

I am not big into scanners anymore like I was in the hayday of scanner listening ( back in the day when you didn't have to have an engineering degree to turn the radio on, lol) I can take it or leave it really makes no nevermind to me, it is just some entertaining noise anymore. I have toyed with the idea of getting an APCO 25 radio to listen to the OPP and I think that would take care of my trunking problems as well, but I really need to convince myself that it is worth it. Anyways thanks for your reply.

It's really not that difficult.

Click on the link given to you several times ( Waterloo County, Ontario (ON) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference) Thoughout that page are several linked references to the Waterloo EDACS system and all those police talkgroups you were looking for in the first place. The easiest for you may be to scroll to the very bottom of the page. The last clickable link at the bottom says Waterloo Region. Click that link and you get to this page, the one you've been looking for all along.

The website you were listening to was mine, and it was those Waterloo police talkgroups you heard on a 35 second delay.
