I am listening to Stratford PD this morining on 142.77. If all has to do with a funeral procession, but why are they using the common channel. There is no other P.D. involved? OPP are now involved, sounds like the procession is moving out of town.

Well it's probably a 'Special Event' channel that doesn't need the regular digital or encryption or whatever the police use in your area.

Didn't I see on the local Kitchener news last night a story about a Stratford firefighter that died from cancer rated illness incurred from years of service. It may be related to his funeral and traffic issues related to the procession.

You said no other PD is involved than you say the OPP are involved.
Sounds like a good reason to use a common channel.

I had been listening for about 20 minutes to communications between the SPD dispatch and the SPD officers when an OPP officer in the area asked if he could be of any assistance, the Stratford police replied no we have everything under control. That is why I said no other police department was involved, then about ten minutes from my post the OPP came on and it was apparent that they were assisting in the movement out of town, that was when I edited my original message to say that infact the OPP were involved.
