...and now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Ran DMR Decode all day on the site 2 control channel and the csv file shows all the group calls on Group 11, with chunks of radio to radio calls mixed in.

Radio IDS are all 5 digit, 10xxx, 11xxx, 14xxx, 15xxx, 18xxx & 19xxx. ID 10008 seems to be Oakville Transit Control (base) from what I heard via DSD when I was in earshot.

More Oakville info to add today:

Logged T/Gs 12 (radio IDs as shown in t/g 11 posted above), 21, 23, 24, 25 & 27 (radio IDs for all 5 were 19xxx & 21xxx), 29 (sole radio ID 150902), 31, 32 & 33 (radio IDs 30xxx for all 3). Lots of Unit to Unit Voice Calls logged as well.

Wednesday's wet weather will force me indoors to actually listen while DMR Decode logs data.

It's a TRBO system so your PSR800 won't monitor it.

TAC_66, remember that there is a load of data on the system, vehicle position reports and so forth, and the vast majority of activity isn't voice calls.

The other thing is the frequency layout. Despite the TAFL frequency vs. location information, it's very clear that the lowest 5 frequencies are one site and the highest 5 are the other. I see very strong levels on 938.2500 and up, and signals about 30dB lower from 938.1375 to 938.1875. The middle 4 frequencies of the overall range seem to be very quiet, or not yet even activated.

To be clear, no they're not dedicated data channels, I was just reminding you that there are plenty of data-only transmissions on the system so don't expect every active frequency to be a voice call. As was spelled out in the document from Oakville Council I posted a couple of weeks ago, they opted for this type of system for automatic vehicle position reporting and so forth which given the nature of public transit needing to stay on a strict schedule greatly reduces the need for voice transmissions.

The waterfall capture I posted was in reference to my comment about the frequency assignment between the two sites. It's from the SDR# program that tunes the USB 'dongle' receiver. I also run DMRDecode and DSD simultaneously from the output of SDR#, but this was to demonstrate the relative signal strength of lower vs. the upper range of frequencies assigned to the system as seen from my location.

I stand corrected, the mid-range frequencies are in fact all in use. I wasn't using the yagi for that last screen capture, where-as the one below with the antenna aimed towards west Oakville clearly shows system activity on the frequencies I'd described as quiet or not in use. (Bronte tower). Matter of fact, all 14 freqs. are in use here!

Gotta love those SDR dongles for stuff like this... I was playing with mine looking for some signals from Michigan and caught an intermittent burst on the waterfall... turned out to be the idle burst of a Capacity Plus system. When using a scanner in search mode it would skip right past it.

Oakville care-A-van appears to be t/g 12, TOWARF (Town of Oakville water air rescue force) t/g 80.

I was decoding the Town Of Oakville TRBO system over the weekend and noticed the listing in the database for the two sites are incorrect. Site 1 (Bronte) has 9 frequencies associated with it (938.1375 to 938.2375) with 938.1375 and 938.1500 are Control Channels and Site 2 (Trafalgar) with the remaining 5 frequencies (938.2500 to 938.3000) with 938.2500 and 938.2625 as the control channels. Not sure why they have it lopsided like this but non the less I have submitted this info to database.

Which group of frequencies belonging to which tower was based on my estimation from 15 miles away using a directional antenna. Problem is from my location there's only a few degrees of seperation betwwen Bronte and Trafalgar Road.... the antenna isn't that precise!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 6_1_2 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/536.26 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Mobile/10B146 Safari/8536.25)

I was running for dmrdecode on each of the freqs and waiting for the site info for that frequency to pop up.

I ain't complaining.

You were the pioneer that discovered this system and shared it with us.
