University of Windsor MOTOTRBO

Hi there,

Does anyone have any information about the U of Windsor MOTOTRBO system (UHF)? They are definitely on their own system and not one of the larger (GOTRBO; Kelcom) networks and have been since about 2008; however, information about it seems to be highly elusive.

I know maintenance, campus police, campus emergency medical services, and other departments are all users of it, some with multiple talk-groups.

Thoughts?

I've looked for this a few times and haven't really turned up much... Mainly because I always seem to be looking for it during nights/weekends etc when system activity is very low.

According to my notes I had TRBO activity on 412.6125. Monitored a few different talkgroups that sounded like Fire Safety and perhaps the electrical shop. I've also got 412.2875 listed as a possible frequency. I'd suggest checking what is licensed to them according to the TAFL and start from there.

Yeah. I don't have the capabilities with DSD to figure out the colour codes/time slots or I'd try myself. Playing around with a Mototrbo Radio and guessing just seems like a process that would take forever.

Just guessing will take more than forever. 16 colour codes x 2 time slots x 65,000 available group codes. If you need group ID's and such, DMRDecode is your only option.

The following seem to be more maintenance use according to the license descriptor but it's hard to say.

DSD won't help you. You need to run DMRDecode which is much easier to get going than DSD.

TAFL shows UHF channels 412.2875 and 412.7125 as TRBO (7.6kHz); 860.8625 may
be TRBO but still shown as analog, though these records often lag behind reality.

TAFL also shows a whack of 850MHz channels at Active status, which look like
TRBO (7.6kHz) but sort of confusing as the TX Spectrum Signature Code is 900
which is analog voice:

Hard to imagine all of them being active, but I'm nowhere close to the vicinity to check it out

Seems unlikely they would use both VHF and 800mhz TRBO... I spent a short amount of time checking those 800mhz allocations a few months back and didn't hear a thing on them. However I did log the VHF activity that I mentioned above.

The 800 mhz freqs belong to the city of windsor. They are used for the city radio system. At one time the university had a talkgroup on that system. That has since changed.

This was when the city system was analog.
