Default Essa Twp: Tornado On The Ground!

Ontario Provincial Police reporting a very large tornado on the ground in southern Bruce County, Ontario. Numerous homes and buildings received severe damage in the Barrie area. Likewise, numerous casualties being reported.

Heavy damage, with 30 homes severely damaged in the Essa area.

Severe damage from a tornado near the community of Angus. Fire and EMS crews are on the scene.

Somehow I think the OPP would have better geographical sense than that. Barrie and Angus are both in Simcoe County which is nowhere near Bruce County.

Local hydro crews were on 49.190MHz last night and I'm hearing chatter on 48.950MHz today.

*edit - 49.170MHz as well.

*edit - OPP are on 1TAC08.

Steve: Let's be fair here. There was reports of a tornado touchdown in Hanover and Walkerton, Walkerton is in Bruce County. See the link posted below, from Env Canada, noting this:

Perhaps our friend who posted here heard this on his scanner?

I heard earlier in the day yesterday afternoon(news report,not scanner) about a possible tornado touchdown in Walkerton if that helps any.
