Phase I at the moment though the radios are Phase II capable. Content is not
terribly interesting right now. I think it is live testing using non-critical operations.

Audio sounds "swishy" which is not unusual for the PSR600, but wonder if
they are using simulcast (LSM) which might partially explain it.

Listening to the radio in the morning, waiting for garbage to be picked up, what a treat... :)

I looked down on one of the trucks and noticed the antenna was changed from the
loaded gain type to a regular black 1/4 wave whip, an indication of which vehicles in
what departments have been converted.

Ottawa P25 Signal

Is it just me or does this system have some sort of technical problem?

The CC seems to be transmitting a considerable amount of noise along with it's signal.
I have very good signal strength here,

Also, 866.7875 is constantly transmitting a tone using P25, and this transmitter seems to be transmitting a lot of noise also. (signal is strong)

It does not look like a proper signal.

EDIT: I just noticed that the modulation is showing as: CQPSK. Reading about this now.

P25 CC's "sound" noisy when you listen on an FM receiver; it's normal, depends on the data
being transmitted, wouldn't worry as long as it decodes OK. Listen to Gatineau on 866.7625,
866.9125 etc. or RENIR VHF CCs for comparison.

The tone on 866.7875 is a test signal (getting NAC 293), has been taken out of
rotation, again not a big issue.

I cant even get the control channel from inside my house in the west end.

Like the present system there will be multiple sites. Depends how far west you are.
CC may not be up to full power yet. Only TG 2017 and 2018 heard as of late.

BTW the site shown as 1 is actually site 2; so where is site 1 (?).

I found three more sites..

866.1875 - West tower getting 100% signal even in basement.

867.0375 - 1 bar in house.. 4 outside.

863.7375 - 1 bar in house..

All results on a 436 with rubber suck.. not setup to do unitrunker to confirm sid or anything but these frequencies dont show as gatineau or cassidian in the db.

Cassidian is now known as Airbus DS Communications. Don't rely on the RR DB for this
one. Check TAFL, shows 863.7375. Gatineau uses 867.0375.

Also interesting to note, Unitrunker and DSD+ won't decode the strong CC I hear.
PSR600, and Pro96com hanging off it seems to work. I wonder if it has to do with
this being a Harris P25 system, not Motorola.

Decode the CC with UT

Dave, I finally was able to make UT decode the CC. I have my antenna on a rotor and if I carefully adjust the direction UT will decode with a health of no betterthen 60 (if I am lucky) despite a very strong signal.
